  1. I'm mostly just waiting for the other stuff right now. I know the game isn't going to come out until Thursday, fine. But we're supposed to get some nice supplementary material along with the keys, like almanacs and guidebooks. That's the stuff I want right now.

agreed, I would love to read that stuff, and it will help to make me choose what class I want to play first, I think either a ranger or a pally, but then again, a monk or a rogue, no wait make that a ....................

damn it, I' can't decide now.

  2. WOW!! what a update, a great deal of thought is going into this game, but one thing puzzles me

1st Level Wizard Spells - Wizards can access all 1st level wizard spells immediately. Unlike other wizard spell levels, the wizard does not need to find scrolls or grimoires to use any 1st level spells. Wizards can cast a fixed number of 1st level spells before they must rest to recover their uses. They can cast any combination of different spells up to the per-rest limit. As wizards gain levels, their 1st level spells will eventually become per-encounter resources.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this?

I can understand 1st level spells been a fixed amount,, able to cast so many before you need rest to regain them, but I don't understand the second bit? does that mean you can cast a unlimited amount of spells during combat? then need rest to cast any more 1st spells? or does this mean something else?

apart from that, I like the direction the game is heading, that was quite a read, and a very good update, please keep them coming

  3. http://www.overclock...-on-data-mining

well I feel utter revolted, if you read the whole thing, this new shiny mice from Razer requires always on connection to work, and needs to be activated online to work, otherwise its a basic plug and play mouse

I had issues with one razer product in the past, but this is taking the mick, I can't understand why they have gone this far, unless its it just for data mining?

well friends, if you are thinking of getting a razer mouse, avoid this one like the plague

  4.

this is another space sim that is using Procedural generation techniques to build a universe,

if you check the video, this is a guy in his 20's doing all the work, the game will have planet landings, will have factions, you will be able to own stations (proposed stretch goal) ships will be different each time, as the universe will be based upon a seed, if you don't know what Procedural generation techniques is. then please check

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procedural_generation

but basically, Elite / frontier / FFE used this to generate worlds, granted they did get similar after a while, but the principal stands

I think this is the next elite and I have more faith in this game then I do with ED and DB, at least the LT dev has something to show, and is on the KS comments a fair bit, also the video is VERY WELL DONE!! he really puts ED to shame

even Chris Roberts has backed this guy, and nearly offered him a job, (but knew he wouldn't take it, as he is working on this game) but if this raising star does take up CR offer at some point, then SC or its sequel will be even better,

but anyway, I backed LT at the $60 which is a good deal, and there is a lot more on its way, a lot more, including random generated cities and more, I hope he can manage, its a lot of work, but as he already got a lot done, I think at the end of the day this is going to be the closest elite game so far

I have backed this guy and have faith in him

there is still a long way to go from the time of writing this and already he got half way in the funding goal of $50,000 which is pretty small, but I can see this getting to 100k easy

please check the video, and I hope you support this guy, we need to see the return of the bedroom programmers, that helped make many old games reality back in the day, we don't really see them now, so with KS as a good platform, they are slowly making a return

    I hope you back him,

    PS

he does have a lot of plans for the game, ship editor, station editor, owning planets and stations, commanding fleets and getting them do to your bidding, and a great deal more,

no alien races yet, (but this is understandable if he doesn't add them, as this is a one man project) but he has a lot of promise and that video shows he already got a lot of work done, I have way more faith in LT then I have in ED at the moment in time, and while I did back Elite dangerous at the start, I did end up pulling my pledge, as I just had one concern too many, and the lack of updates was a concern, and the fact that negative comments were also ignored

but I have more faith in LT, so anyway I backed this, only wish I could pledge more

  5. it seems for gog, they update the installer, (I could be wrong) but there aren't any patches for any of their games as you download the whole package again

now concerning PE, if they do the same system, it would be a massive burden for those that have limited bandwidth, especially if patches do come out fairly quickly, (there will always be a few patches) steam version will be fine, as it will auto update, but I think for the gog version, they should offer patches along with the game installer, but as there won't be any DRM attached, then maybe OE could offer these patches? or some gaming site? I'm still not sure which version of the game I'm going for, so would be good to have some ideas on how the GOG version (patches) will be handled,

  6. I didn make myself clear, and I didn't realise that the gog installer did just a pause and resume, so that is something, but if I was to go for the steam version, with does support patching and will install the expansion on top, (and for the gog version, how will it handles patches for such a large game?) will it have them as an option or update the core game files which means having to download the full game once more?

but either way,, but I would like some way to backup the game, so that I can play maybe in a years time without having to download everything again, but steam probably won't let me do that, I would have to download the full game again wont i? especailly if it does use steamworks, so I thinking for later on, once I finished the game and want to play again, that is all

  7. now that this game is going to be pretty large, I still probably prefer steam over gog, as I can keep the steam version updated, but saying that, if its possible to backup the whole folder at some point that contains the game and expansion once its out, would be nice to back it up to a large flash drive (and they are getting cheaper)

that way if I want to play the game again, I can simply copy back the files from flash to HD and start playing, at least then I wouldn't have to download the entire game again, yes I could use GOG, but I would have to download the full installer in one sitting, even thought having the gog version might be a good idea, but it really depends on how large this game will be, if possibly I would like to keep my options open, at least before I get the survey and have to choose which key Im going to get

Im not bothered about the steam version, but the download size is a bit of a concern, so any means to backup the steam version would be great,
