I somehow hoped that I would be able to access Cazador's palace from the sewers entrance, but it was not interactive, so the party went in through the guard tower as expected

    That was honestly a bummer.

I remember the bosses in Solasta having Legendary actions on normal difficulty. Curious why it was limited only to the Ironman one in Larian's game

In my experience Legendary Actions are among the most unpopular boss mechanics in pnp. For the most part Larian-brew has been a marked improvement over 5e (and where it isn't is mostly stuff they didn't do, like giving Sorcerer's more spells based on subclass) so I'd assume that Larian cut them for that reason. I don't think the pnp Legendary stuff would be good, but a lot of bosses need something.

I am tempted to reinstal BG3 and see a more proper ending to my campaign. Keep updates coming Larian.

Eh, I don't know if it's worth that. You could get much of the same experience looking it up on YouTube.

The Ironman mode thing sucks, I think one thing PoE definitely did right was separating that from its normal difficulty setting. Quite a few fights in BG3 could use some additional challenge and it'd be nice to get that without the one save thing.

Some of the potential endings are pretty notable in how much scope they've seemingly been given to change the established Forgotten Realms lore. So why not conquer Hell itself? :o

I wouldn't go as far as to say conquering all of the Hells, but the Hells do have a very large presence in the game and a big share of the unfinished business after the end. Not sure how that'd work with all of the (new) endings, but they could always change the endgame to be a transition to the hypothetical new adventure or something.

  3. The new patch dropped a new epilogue, which is another party in the campsite several months after. No really big additions or spoilers, but it leaned pretty hard on the prospect for a future adventure. Personally I'd be cool with Baldur's Gate 3: Descent into Avernus...Again, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

  4. Finished up Tokyo Ghoul....a while ago and forgot to post about it. I enjoyed it quite a lot, the more surreal and mindscape parts worked very well for me. I'd reccomend the anime (Tokyo Ghoul > A > :re) to anyone who liked Ergo Proxy or is down for like 40-something episode seinen sci-fi.

Also.....rewatched Hellsing. It's......well it's extremely edgy and the cgi hasn't aged well but it's a fun ride nonetheless.

  5. Fire Emblem: Engage - Maddening

Every cutscene or dialogue makes me feel embarrassed and the (optional) skirmishes give the Pathcat Owlfinder games a run for their money in terms of being stupidly punishing, but the main route encounters are consistently well designed in a way that's tactically challenging but also fair for the most part. However I'm only about halfway in and the emblems I got are already starting to break the game so I assume when I collect 'em all my army of shonen stock characters will start to steamroll everything.

The thing about Kissinger is that just mentioning Pol Pot doesn't quite get across how monstrous he really was. He really was involved in about every post ww2 war crime of the US. And there were a lot of those.

I mean Godwinning a discussion is usually seen as unhelpful or an exaggeration or whatever, but if someone came into the thread to say Kissinger was worse than Hitler, I'd be going like this:

    image.gif.bfcc77831051403f3890e89049443cb3.gif

If we're assigning a body count to Kissinger then we're looking at 3 million being a conservative estimate, to say nothing of the other horrors and lasting damage caused by his stratagems. Hitler would have had a much bigger body count than the Holocaust and WW2 had he been in power longer, all things considered the Nazis probably killed people at the absolute fastest rate and most directly. So I don't think any could beat out Hitler in terms of being evil....though I'm sure that some are trying.

For me the big difference is that while Hitler is recognized as history's greatest monster almost universally, Kissinger's punishment for his many crimes was getting to live a life of luxury and prestige with a curated legacy as a brilliant statesman, the mountain of bodies he left in his wake swept under the proverbial rug.

I never read The Shining, but I'm guessing the movie fares well in comparison. It seems like Stephen King has decent string of his books becoming good on the screen, but he's also pretty involved with that aspect.

I'd probably argue that The Hunger Games were fairly mediocre books that looked pretty good on the big screen.

Steven King was actually unhappy with Kubrick's film and thinks a different adaptation is better. It's been a long time since I've read or watched any of them, but I think Kubrick's film works better as an adaptation than the TV miniseries.

I beat the Lord of Nothing just a few minutes ago and I really enjoyed it. I was surprised that it wasn't super buggy, but not bug-free, and I could complete it with no major issues. I liked the almost mythic system they put in and think the 3 NPCs from this might be my favorite of the bunch. Curious to play through the main campaign to chapter 5 and see what they added.

How's it compare to Through the Ashes and how good are the unique NPC archetypes?

Going for the mythic triple post.

I know nothing about it but a cow being abducted by a flying saucer has me down to check it out.

There is the whole story regarding Ania, her origin, powers, etc... That seems to have fallen by the wayside and turned in to a gimmick. She is the main character after all.

    NANI!?!??!?

There is also the story about preventing another war by approaching the Hitler analogue. But that requires Anya earning 7 stars and, at this rate, it will take decades.

    OH MY GOD!!!!

  10. Suspira (1977) Uncut version

Well hot damn, this movie is ****ing gorgeous in it's remastered version. The way the score is used makes me almost panic, the sound of the mix makes it feel very loud relative to the rest of the movie and it's very unsettling, which I mean only positively. I'd go so far as to say the movie is worth watching for the visuals and sound design alone.

In terms of da plot, ehhhh it's not the greatest. But the execution is often marvelous. There's one sequence in particular, the third killing, that is absolutely a ****ing masterclass that beats out most other slashers or thrillers. This is a goddamn classic for good reason.

I remember reading that a while ago. It's sad that the series ended because there have been a lot of recent films that would be great to see someone analyze.

Anyways....I've been cooking more so now my YouTube algorithm recs are movie/series clips, music, vidya game clips, and recipes with the occasional technical video. Not a bad slice tbh.

  12. I finally got the game to load after trimming out some mods. Haven't played around too much, but I'm satisfied enough with Reanimator and Shadowcaster to finally do my Lich run......after I beat Fire Emblem: Engage.

Then I guess I'll slot my final runs for after the last DLC. Right now angling for Angel, Demon, Azata, Aeon > Devil, and Tdickster > Legend. Hopefully the dlc drops sooner than later so I can use the more copious time I have in the winter to play this janky **** (and Tears of the Kingdom) before BG3: Definite Enchanced Special ELEGANTO Edition drops.

You know that terrible sound people make when they're slowly but surely dying? That awful utmost pity inducing wail of the reversal of the life process?

That's the sound I hear from all these anti Cowboy Bebop Boo Boo the Fools, clinging to a desperate hope that the tide can somehow be reversed and cannot accept the fact that the world is changing in big ways.

Stay tuned for 2071, we're just getting started here

  14. I had no idea that remoulade was anything but the creole or cajun sauce so thanks Gorth.

Anyways for Thanksgiving I'm going to see my folks and they already bought a 14 pound turkey.....which they expect me to cook. Since I don't want to burn their house down deep frying the ****er I'm gonna do the spatch**** roasted turkey with herb+garlic butter packed under the skin. Hopefully that will keep it moist and punch in some kind of flavor to that bland ass bird. Maybe I'll get to make some man and cheese at least.

IDF says it may take 'weeks' to fully search Al-Shifa Hospital.

Remember a few days ago about how they knew exactly where the command bunker was, and it was the 'beating heart' of Hamas? Guess they're hoping everyone will have forgotten that in a few weeks, after they start in on the hospitals in southern Gaza...

Was that when they used a cgi presentation as proof? I honestly don't remember, the level of bull**** to come out of Israeli government accounts and politicians is enough to make Colin Powell's WMD presentation look credible by comparison.

Was "bombard" hyperbole, or is the situation really that bad?

It's that bad. Because of my job I frequently call or take calls from numbers I do not recognize, roughly 2/3rds of them end up being some kind of scams that bypass the "scam likely" filter. It's nearly inescapable and can happen at all hours of the day, a call at 2am claiming to be an emergency is not a great thing to wake up to.

Yes, I recognize you're talking about Peter Theil and not your government as such.

I was talking about both, as the biggest clients of Plantir Technologies are governments. It's a distinction not worth a difference whether a government pays a firm to do something or if a government does something directly.
