  1. By your logic, you're not going to get an unbiased response from those that stayed in Cuba because they're Communists...and they don't want to be thrown into jail. By your logic North Korea is a great place to live and the overwhelming amount of anecdotal evidence is fabricated to make Communism look bad. "To the skeptic there's never enough evidence"
  2. State run economies fail because they're a monopoly, there's no incentive to compete, there's no profit so no need to innovate and workers despite their qualifications are stuck in a singular corporate structure. Tomorrow if McDonald goes bankrupt there's still several other burger chains, because there's no monopoly. Contrast that with Communist countries that nationalized their industries and there's no fallback plan. More so they fail because of ideological inspired social programs that have little value, offer no tangible results or are very poorly thought out because no one can challenge the management. In short Communist economy can't succeed, China is an exception because their economy is not entirely Communist and because they steal our IP skipping all R&D
  3. The great Emu war is still remembered to this day
  4. Everything I learn about the Australian wildlife makes me think that Australia might have a gate to hell.
  5. Karin has such recognizable voice, I didn't know this band but my brain just went "The Knife"
  6. Look, its a massive cultural difference between the absolutism of developed anglo nations and the relativism of struggling Latin nations. We don't have the luxury of standing strong by our ideals without them ever being challenged, so we pick our battles and we pick our allegiances. You could be the most staunch racist in Cuba, but if the only person you can buy meat from is black you probably will put a cork in it. That type of personal interchanges leads to a more nuanced view of the world and of people than what a role rigid society would. I would say the problem and what has led to partisanship in the US is in part the fact that we can seclude ourselves in communities of our choosing never challenged, not that there's a deliberate attempt at brainwashing. Plus we are always going to have cultural differences because we view the world in different ways. Sorry for the long post, the article was fine. Whomever wrote it didn't seem like they stay in the island long enough to have a full picture.
  7. I knew he was a playboy and he liked to roam around the third world, I just hope that he's not moronic enough to be blind to what people go through in those countries. But to be fair to him, Cubans don't like to show their misery, so it might seem like everything is alright if you're not part of it.
  8. Ok, sorry I got a bit emotional. I've a low threshold for stuff like that. Could you tweet him my reply? Also tell him that he's a ****.
  9. ......You have no idea what you're talking about. Proof: I'm Cuban born, we do have unemployment, we have homeless and we have persona no grata that do not even make into the books, so they're barely citizens. Rich people do well everywhere, there are a bunch of people that retire to third world countries where the dollar is still worth something and they can live a good live. That doesn't make those countries better.
  10. Simps are real
  11. I do believe in myself like that, I wake up every morning dreading my inevitable collapse.
  12. The problem with State job options that in a healthy economy your tax dollars would be propping up a failing business, so heavier taxation would be required to support it which won't bode well in times of crisis like right now since people aren't making as much money therefore they fall under a lower tax bracket. More so, if the 2008 bailout proved anything is that giving government money to failing companies is just a waste of money. They pocketed and let their companies go under. I don't get why people want to save GameStop and physical retailers. I don't see any of them using landline phones or telegraphs, I might actually lose some respect if I find out they don't use a Sun dial.
  13. Policy always come down from the top, if they don't feel safe giving their opinion on something is likely because they're not allowed to give their opinion on something.
  14. I disagree with any solution that involves government as it would subject to some unnecessary scrutiny and regulations (E.G: Diversity quotas) as I mentioned before it removes the profit motive which it would kill any incentive to compete. Best solution is to lower the entry requirements to open a business so that those that have the know how and will can start their own companies. We've seen that work with some Kickstarter successes
  15. Labor Unions in the past have been heavily funded and influenced by Communist Superpowers, my comment however was a dig at how quick people jump into the Union bandwagon without knowing what it entails. You are literally paying people to boss you around, I get enough of that with the government.
  16. Except the governments solution seems to be to break them up into still powerful duopolies instead of incentivizing competition by lowering barriers for entry into an industry. Meanwhile the hapless workers seduced by the siren's song of socialism unionize bringing another patron into the mix.
  17. Subsidies and state monopolies end in disaster, not only it removes the profit motive from the company but it will sustain failing practices.
  18. If you need to understand Blackstone ratio then just read the following quote by John Adams: "It is of more importance to the community that innocence should be protected, than it is, that guilt should be punished; for guilt and crimes are so frequent in this world, that all of them cannot be punished....when innocence itself, is brought to the bar and condemned, especially to die, the subject will exclaim, 'it is immaterial to me whether I behave well or ill, for virtue itself is no security.' And if such a sentiment as this were to take hold in the mind of the subject that would be the end of all security whatsoever"
  19. That 5 year old better be a midget with hairy ass balls.
  20. ....Neither was I. (The 3 points at the beginning were silence not telegraphing)
  21. That is the worst type of legislation, a sweeping vague law that would apply to people that have nothing to do with the issue. If you're banning shaven heads then I'm siding with the cops.
  22. Well...you know what time it is
  23. You're absolutely right about the X-Files but I still hate you for saying so.
  24. It ain't that expensive,(varies on the size of what you're making) but you cant get some good prices on 2 part solution silicone molds and and casting for less than $1000 that you would spend 3D printing everything. Specially if you have repeated part as molds are reusable. You only need a box and something to act as spruces. https://shop.smooth-on.com/ They also got tutorials on how to mold and what materials to use.
