  1. After Mongolian Neo Nazis, nothing seems jarring to me in this category. Also, the EU announced a $15 billion aid package for Ukraine. GG, EU.
  2. I made the image and I did my research. Unless the Russian Wikipedia, an independent site explaining plate numbers, and reality are wrong. Check the Russian Wikipedia for a breakdown of branch codes.
  3. Nah, Pootyn will claim they were Polish provocateurs trained in special camps in Finland. It would make the same amount of sense.
  4. http://www.latimes.com/world/worldnow/la-fg-wn-local-forces-crimea-russian-military-20140304,0,41184.story#axzz2v5KMUTKf "Local self-defense forces" indeed. And here's a quick image of the license plates "local self-defense forces" use on their vehicles: That must be one big shop.
  5. He can provide proof that these are Russian soldiers. Unless you think Russian uniforms, Russian service weapons, Russian gear, vehicles with Russian license plates, in a region strategically important to Russia, after Russia approved military intervention plans, is all a big coincidence.
  6. Yanukovych abandoned Kiev and disappeared, which would lead to a constitutional crisis. The President is the head of the executive branch in Ukraine and he had to be present to sign the laws passed by the Rada as part of the agreement with the opposition. The parliament did the only thing it could to continue operating (which was well within the Ukrainian constitutional framework, as the nation is the sovereign, not the President).
  7. Russian stocks started falling down and the ruble hit an all time low. People will be pissed off. Putin's increasingly off his rocker.
  8. Your comparisons are all over the place and don't address the underlying point. How will Crimean economy survive? What resources and infrastructure can it draw on to become independent from Russian aid and manipulation? You don't even stick to one country for comparison. Iceland is an island nation that always relied on merchants and it doesn't lie in the Black Sea, while Latvia, Estonia, or Israel don't lie on a peninsula.
  9. Except Crimea isn't Estonia or Latvia, both historically independent nations. Not to mention the fact that Crimea is about three times smaller than either and its only land-based access is through Ukraine and would likely be blocked permanently by Ukraine, in retaliation. Also, Putin be trippin'
  10. An interesting point of view I read a few moments ago is that Crimea has no chance whatsoever to survive as an independent nation. If it breaks away from Ukraine, it will become a puppet of whomever supplies gas, electricity, hell, even fresh water and food. Said puppet master would also be responsible for its well being, since Ukraine would likely embargo Crimean goods.
  11. I didn't believe Russia would be stupid enough to invade Crimea, but lo and behold, they did. And they laid siege to Ukrainian military bases on the shores of the Black Sea. This isn't inconsistent. Aaaand it's official: http://edition.cnn.com/2014/03/03/world/europe/ukraine-tensions/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
  12. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26424738 Putin's insane.
  13. Totally.
  14. oby cries himself to sleep every night reading this article. Merkel apparently said that Putin is out of touch with reality. Maybe he has brain damage and that's why he's behaving like a retard.
  15. Yeah, Stalin, seventy years ago.
  16. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26400035 Duma approves military action.
  17. I think the fallout from disguised Russian troops securing Russian assets would be bigger than the fallout from uniformed Russian troops securing Russian assets. But yeah, this is a really troubling development and the communications blackout makes any kind of definite answer impossible. EDIT http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/02/28/exclusive-russian-blackwater-takes-over-ukraine-airport.html The troops are allegedly a Russian PMC. Source and its reliability unknown.
  18. Isn't it mandatory for troops to wear uniforms under international conventions Russia is a party to?
  19. Thanks Wals. I'm also puzzled by the guy without the rifle, but with some sort of handgun. I'm not sure how to treat this, as this might as well be a false flag operation.
  20. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/28/russia-crimea-white-house Armed, uniformed men who seized transportation and government centers in Crimea? There are also reports of military cargo planes flying in and columns of armored vehicles moving in. If this is Russia's doing, it's an act of war against an independent, sovereign state. Which is bad. http://edition.cnn.com/2014/02/28/world/europe/ukraine-politics/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 More pictures. That rifle is the AK-74, M variant used by Russian Armed Forces. The camouflage pattern is that of the Russian Ratnik next-generation combat gear. The body armor and webbing also appear to be Russian (see here and here for reference). I'm scared. Even more shots. EDIT: There are about twenty of them. I've went through the photographs and there is a number of discrepancies. There are different types of combat webbing worn by the soldiers, ranging from plain beige, through black, to ones with U.S. Woodland camo. Different people wear different types of boots, something I wouldn't expect from an army with standardized equipment. One photograph shows a soldier without a rifle. I'm puzzled. It's possible that they may be an advance Russian force or a Crimean militia using Russian equipment mixed with purchased gear.
  21. Oh man, it's a design that's true to the original Gojira. Whoa.
  22. That's an example of 3D done well, actually. Especially when it shows a place that has no natural horizon for your brain to adjust to, making it go "****, ABANDON SHIP, ABANDON SHIP." I liked the trailer as well. Bryan Cranston is good.
  23. Hey, I was born on 18/04/88.
