I surmised Jones' fishface was because he was dropping the ball on his job, which was why all those dead folks were floating to the edge of the world on their own. I gathered that she broke his heart (not literally, of course), but I wasn't sure how or why.

 

Well... She broke his heart because she is "as changing as the seas". She's fickle.

 

 

Davey Jones' momentary change back into a normal, uncursed human makes more sense now. At the time, I just thought Calypso was just showing off the power of her magic.

I just did some quick research on this and it appears that it wasn't that the scene was supposed to explain it, but that the parts of the scene that really did explain it were cut.

Well, maybe I was able to decipher it because I was slightly spoiled by the internet. *shrug* Whatever. Maybe they figured it was enough for people to catch.

According to the interweb, after the credits we revisit that lonely island beach 10 years later. Will is waiting for Elizabeth... you know, as part of the whole "once every 10 years you can set foot on land" thing that comes with the job when you're the captain of the Flying Dutchman.

 

But here's the kicker: when she shows up she's not alone... she's got Will Turner Jr. with her!

 

I guess those undead pirates are pretty potent, eh?

According to the writers, Ted and Terry, not only is he able to step on land, but the curse is broken. Apparently, if your love is waiting for you for 10 years and the love between you two is true, then the curse will be broken and now Mr. Turner can live a normal, mortal life. Basically, he comes back, he's mortal, and they have a happy, lovely, uninterrupted life...until Jack Sparrow does something else retarded.

 

 

 

The scene between Tia Dalma and Jones was supposed to explain this to some, but it didn't get through to many. They spoke of how she wasn't there when he came back after 10 years, which would have ended his curse.
