  1. Doesn't appear to.  But then again, I believe this ship is available right away, so it doesn't surprise me that there might not be supremely over the top things available.

What I'm more interested in is the Vendor Discounts in laxd_factions.gamedatabundle.  They're pointing to 'faction' approval which don't appear anywhere else in the game.  Not even in laxd_factions.gamedatabundle itself.

Which is... interesting.  Makes me wonder if something is planned for the future or there is more to this Deck of Many Things ship than first appears.

    edit:

This is an example of what I am talking about.  I'll put the code itself behind a spoiler box so to not take up huge amounts of screen space:

For those not familiar, that example is saying if the Watcher has a 1, 2, or 3 rating with the factions given there, then they'll get various discounts in the shops on the Deck of Many Things (all the vendors seem to have this FWIW).

What piques my curiousity is that I can find no reference to:

    "40f1bd97-af2f-4ab6-8e60-cf6c58beb788"

    "dd32ce84-fa5a-4e25-9cf5-48bc102e937a"

    "c362738a-85c7-4525-a74a-3dc144655234"

anywhere else in the game, including the new Beast of Winter DLC.  The only place they show up is in the place where Vendor Rates are set.  But the actual faction(s)* they represent is a mystery at the moment.  At least I can't figure it out.

    * Faction is something of a loose term here, as even the Slavers and the Dawnstars and other minor groups can be considered 'factions' in the game.

I doubt it's an oversight.  I also doubt it's in there for bleeps and giggles.  So why IS it in there?

Be interesting to find out, if we ever do. :)

The way that they keep going on about how special the ship is, one would think that you can obtain it.

I'm not sure if it was the wrong story to tell but it was certainly told poorly. The conversations with the gods are some of the worst scenes I've had to endure in a video game.

If the Watcher ends up deciding their fate in 3, then the player has to establish some sort of relationship with them in 2. Otherwise players will bitch about “arbitrary” choices.
Which doesn't mean that has to be done poorly, i.e. round table discussions, like some kind of celestial boardroom; Christ. :banghead:
Right. They totally should've had us speed dating them instead. Maybe you would've been into that. As for me, I appreciate that they didn't waste any more of my time then they had to.
You said dating, not me. The God's could have had their own quests, for items (like in Skyrim) thus letting us interact with them in more meaningful ways.

Copying Skyrim is like copying the kid that only gets C's. The only thing the Elder Scrolls series is good at is mod support, and well see how well that is going forward.

I can't wait to see which features get removed entirely in the next game.

That's a red herring argument if I ever did see one.

    Hi Wodehouse_44,

Regarding the floating text issue, we are aware of it and the issue is currently undergoing an investigation. As for the Courier's Calling issue, could you please provide us with a save file ideally right after you've accepted that quest?

Save File: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity II

    Thanks!

I should add that I used the console to test the bluff skill on him, even numbers in the 20s wouldn't work. I have a save close to when Maia gives the quest, how much time needs to pass for it to kick in? I'll use the console to skip ahead and see if she gives it, if not I'll just sail around on the ship until she does.

  6. Wait, so if you release Modwyr's soul the sword itself still keeps all its powers?

Yes. The description is kind of sad though. Even though it was probably the good choice to give the sword back, I couldn't give the sword up. It worked too well alongside Duskfall, and it would have hurt my build (dual wield devoted swashbuckler) not to have the extra attack speed. Modwyr, Duskfall, and Hel Beckoning are the three best swords in the game, Hel Beckning isn't great in a dual wield build though, it doesn't synergies well it's better for a one handed, devoted build.

  7. Hi Wodehouse_44,

Just to clarify, are you saying that after interacting with the Adra pillar in the Arena sub-level and that they do not start a conversation with the Watcher? Or do you mean that Aloth and Eder do not participate in the conversation after speaking to Eothas? Also, could you provide us with a save file before the issue occurs?

Save File: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity II

    Thanks!

After interacting with the pillar, they don't start the conversation. I reloaded the game multiple times, and after the fifth time the conversation started. After one of the reloads, just when finding Oderisi, Aloth didn't  mention him, and Xoti spoke instead. It was like the game wasn't recognizing Aloth and Eder. Also I should add that Eder's conversation, that starts his personal quest, didn't start next to the Dawnstars in Port Maje, but in the middle of Queens Berth Neketaka. I apologize, I looked through my save games, unfortunately I only have one right after interacting with the Adra pillar.

  8. I highly suggest swords over sabres as a Devoted. Swords have two damage types yet lack base penetration; Devoted's penetration bonus eliminates that flaw. In turn the dual damage types allow you to fight nearly every enemy without weapon switching, which is important since you will have heavy penalties for your Crushing Damage backup weapon.

My only qualm is that I'm building  a raider/pirate who originates from the Deadfire, so lore wise sabers make more sense. However, it's pretty easy to get good swords early in Neketaka i.e. Duskfall (obtained via good diplomacy), and Whispers (only 1500, and not that hard to enchant away the will debuff).

  9. I wrote it off as nonsense too, but people have pointed out that they could actually be referencing past or future events. So I thought this guy might be a Cassandra type - you write him off when he's actually making some points.

The problem is, they're vague enough that players could find connections that aren't actually there. Which is very appropriate for BS fortune telling Lol.

"I see a house with four walls" - ok man..

Going to burning Islands of Teeth, to meet an old friend isn't that vague.
