  1. Been there, done that.  Need something new.

    Shadows of Memories?

    I LOVED THAT GAME.

I remember buying it from Gamestop, the guy behind the counter stopped me and said "Are you sure? You can't return it if you don't like it." It was awesome. I played through multiple times to get the real ending.

Though it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

There are 5 different endings, and 2 extra, REAL endings! (w00t)

(this means atleast 7 playtroughs inclusive fun & new, not yet explored things) ^_^

I did 7 playthroughs of the game! The confusing part is

where Wagner turns out to be Eike.

  3. That makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever.

So I should not play a Wizard... because I cant cast magic In real Life?

I should not Play a Rogue, because I cant really hot wire a car?

I thought we were playing games and exercising our imaginations and creativity here... sorry about that.

You can't seriously be that daft. Talk about taking things way too literally, especially considering the rest of Hell Kitty's post.

Hell Kitty is talking about your skills as a game player, and the skills of the character. For example, a classic point of a contradiction was in Morrowind, when you could shoot someone with a bow and arrow point blank, but then your character's skill determined after the fact whether or not it actually was a hit.

I can't really shoot a compound longbow, but if my skill as a player has me shoot an arrow (not a real arrow, but one in a video game, by using a mouse or some other form of input) and I see that arrow hit someone, but some bizarro mechanic says "nope, your skill wasn't good enough" then that's not a good thing.

That's because you're looking at RPGs as action games, not as what they are, storytelling games. The goal isn't "to beat the enemy," though that's what many CRPG developers turn it in to. The goal is to "see what happens." Win or lose, either is good. The character is just one you play, much like an actor, and you improv his actions, using the rules to determine the outcomes. And the character can die, it's okay when he loses, it just plays the drama along.

  4. I would prefer it if more games branched from the "you can save everybody from certain doom" themes. Ripley survives the first two movies by the seat of her pants and despite her best efforts, she can't even save a little girl that reminds her of her daughter. And even Ripley eventually dies.

It's gritty and it makes the franchise. You don't survive an encounter with Aliens, you just survive longer than everyone else.

  5. @Tale

    Ah, the leech zombies.

Fire takes care of them. ;)

Moltovs and Flame Rounds... though they do explode when you kill them.  :p

    @Pop

    He's talking about REZero. :p

    Lisa's only in REmake. :)

As for the ammo thing, yeah... you gotta be careful about that.  :aiee:

I shot it, but it didn't die! I SHOT IT, BUT IT DID NOT DIE! :aiee:

  6. All firearms had a given amount of reloading time along with other modifiers (speed, accuracy, etc.). This could be improved via Denton's increased expertise with firearms and/or modifying firearms to become better. I didn't found a problem there, it felt fairly balanced.

I had more issues with the game telling me Denton was weak with pistols but I could just run up to an NSF trooper and compensate for his lack of skill with a close range bullet to the head. Not much of a point in improving a weapon skills if I can just circumvent the skill system entirely by running up to an enemy at close range and whamo his weak body parts.

Or for that matter, just get the sword that kills everything with one-hit. Yeah, that was a brilliant inclusion.

  7. It's alive? Which one of you is responsible for giving a bot AI?

Wouldn't that be a fitting end to humanity? Someone's spambot becomes self-aware and wipes us out.

As a psychology student with some coding background, it is my greatest dream to achieve such a thing.

  8. Before WoW, every MMO was compared to EQ because that was the most succesful.  It didn't matter that Meridian 59 came first.  That's just the way the industry works.  You can argue quality all day, but the only real indication of success is raw sales figures.  Quality is just your opinion.

Actualy, Neverwinter Nights was the First "MMOG."

Neverwinter Nights was the first graphical MMOG

Meridian 59 was the first 3D MMOG

  9. RPG - FPS game.

    Deus Ex

    Vampire Masquerade - Bloodlines

    Strategy - FPS

    Well played Battlefield 2142

    Savage

    Natural Selection

Strategy - RPG - FPS game

    Natural Selection

Wait, is this thread in context for this forum?

Oh. I'd like a Star Wars game that's not hyperfocused on jedi or filled with ridiculous off canon ideas that dilute what Star Wars feel it does have.

An RPG of that nature might be nice. FPS, been there done that. RPG - FPS, they never bring anything exciting over other Action RPGs, so nah. Strategy - RPG - FPS, those are better for original IPs. Such games would be a waste of such a fleshed out license.

  10. WoW has an incredibly casual friendly design (pre-60). EQ2 may have been released first, but it was not casual friendly in the least. EQ2's relative failure has caused them to start adding casual friendly content in order to try to compete with WoW.
