  1. Why did nobody tell me a Hard Reset demo was available?

Edit: And I did not enjoy the demo.

I enjoyed it more than I expected, though I have no desire to play beyond the demo. It was better than the Space Marine demo at least, but then not playing a game at all would have been better than playing the Space Marine demo.

  2. Maybe it's just cause I have the pc version, but loading times are never a problem for me.

I was on the PS3, and I don't remember there being much in the way of loading upon entering buildings.

Playing with the game installed on the 360 load times are pretty good. Super long load times were apparently only an issue on the PC version and that issue was fixed in the patch.

  3. One thing that surprises me about most of the screenshots people are uploading is how many seem to keep the obnoxious quest markers switched on.

    That's a surprise ?

Considering most places I hang out online have people complaining about the dumbing down of games, yeah. It's like discovering that the people who laughed at those who couldn't find Caius Cosades are themselves the players who couldn't find Caius Cosades. Of course this is the same crowd that whines when you take save anywhere away from them. If there's one thing you can rely on gamers for, it's inconsistency.

I wonder which ending will be the canon one, Taggart's I guess?

I think the endings are vague enough that there isn't a need to pick a canon ending.

  4. I don't know what "running yourself a wolf" means but I much prefer my hud without them, even if I did get lost in Heng Sha a couple of times.

There are also a lot of people who prefer the highlighting on, saying how difficult it can be to find things amongst the clutter. Personally I like using my own two eyeballs to find stuff, but maybe that's the Thief fan in me.

  5. I'm confused about his listing of The Sims. The Sims series has always featured both paid and free stuff, most of it user created. Hell, Sims modders were doing buyable downloads before it was even known as DLC.

All up, that's a pretty crappy list.

  6. The right dialogue is pretty self evident imho.

Not really. I was playing around with some of the conversations, and in the one with

Taggart, the first time I did it the final line about his wife saw me "win" the conversation, but the second time it just pissed him off.

    also, that boss fight against

    Niham

    or what's-his-face

is really mother-******** hard when you made the horrible mistake of visiting the Limb clinic and getting the surgery done... damn

Heh, I was pretty sure that decision was the wrong one, but I figured I do it the first time around.

Additionally, I would change how melee attacks are working: Lethal-attack should be totally silent and the non-lethal attack making the noise, to balance things out.

Non-lethal is silent, but the enemy can be revived. Lethal is noisy, but the takedown is permanent. That's balanced to me, before taking XP into account at least.

Yes, yes, enemies could revive their knocked out friends, but be honest: How often does that actually happen? Not a lot.

That depends on how you play. I was mostly lethal and did most of my killing with a silenced pistol and enemies rarely heard my victims.

I went into that section with no energy, 29 combat rifle shots, 8 pistol shots and 10 tranq rounds. I didn't manage to save her. I could never take down the heavies fast enough to save her. The copter always blew within about 20 seconds.

I did that section twice and thought I would never, ever be able to save her, then the third time around I just used my silenced sniper rifle from the starting position before taking about the bot with a single emp and it was a lot easier.

Especially as (I think) they're clones of your girlfriend.

    What makes you think that?

I was disappointed that the endings where just Jensen voice-overs, but I figure that perhaps they want to use him for future games and don't what want to have to account for a whole bunch of variations.

    Also,

    Megan is a jerk.

  7. Hrm, I turned the turret on.

So did I. I got experience for those kills though, so I guess you can't do that and still claim to be a pacifist.

Anyway, I started killin' dudes pretty early on, some people just gotta die.

Rest in peace my Alice Garden Pod friends

    .

  8. Damn, forgot to activate the bonus stuff before starting the game.

Didn't get the bonus money and explosives, but I hope I still get the Tong mission.

I got a pop-up telling me about the bonus stuff being in my game at the beginning if the Sarif mission, so if you haven't seen that in your game then you're out of luck.

  9. This means you often have to kill people even if you are trying for a non lethal approach.

    No you don't.

It's very unsatisfying to sneak up on someone and then have a red flashing error message.

The first energy pip regenerates. You avoid this scenario by waiting.

Apparently you can't lift your arms without expending two points of energy.

Are you trying to do a double takedown? I don't have that aug, but single takedowns only use one energy pip, and you always have one.

  10. I restarted an put all my points into hacking instead of a bunch of stuff I didn't end up needing yet.

After spending so much time in the Detroit hub, I look forward to seeing what EM do with Thief.

  11. I'm glad I'm not working tomorrow, it'll be a 3 day deusexathon.

Still at the Sarif plant, I just used cardboard boxes to block a turrets view. I'm a god damn super genius. I suppose if I had the strength aug I could just pick it up and have it face the wall.

Though I'm playing on hard, I tried the game with the highlighting on and though it was horrible. Highlighting what you can interact with just makes all the stuff you can't stand out more. Much nicer without it.

So far the only thing that has bugged me is that dropping a crate makes a rather loud noise, but no one seems to hear it.
