  1. Interesting video, Kaylon. There were several things I didn't understand: You took 3 food items at the start, but when I read the strategy guide to learn the game, I saw: Is that guide wrong? I also didn't understand why you always kept one enemy alive before engaging the next? Was that to show off to do everything in one fight, or to keep spells running?
  2. I don't understand the Iron Skin spell. "Caster: +8 Damage Reduction until hit or critically hit." But as long as you are not hit, you don't need Damage Reduction, so it does only protect against grazes? That seems a pretty weak effect then.
  3. Pretend to join Raedric after talking to him, to move away freely, than attack when you are positioned?
  4. I did the test: - Start in GOG 3.03, save - Load in Steam 3.04 The items (ring and pet) are there. Save - Load in GOG My character is no longer there, just the caravan scout that will help me. This is probably the effect of downgrading from 3.04 to 3.03, which doesn't work, obviously, but the save does show up as a valid load.
  5. Actually, in my current savegames the items are not there, because I started with Steam, then bought the GOG pack for the goodies (guide, map, novel), continued the party in GOG, removed PoE from Steam, because it is really large for my limited laptop hard disk, so switching back to Steam should be no problem. But I'll start a new campaign in GOG, then immediately switch to Steam, just to see what happens to that item. I already noticed that savegames started without the White March don't show up in a game that does have the White March, because before I installed those modules on GOG, I only saw my very first short trial game from Steam. Then, after installing de DLC, I saw everything also in GOG.
  6. Ah, and I switched from Steam to GOG last week, so my latest saves were not uploaded. When I open the last save game in Steam on my laptop, save it again, then it will probably appear in my Steam PoE on the Game PC? (but that is a huge download again for Steam, so I will probably just copy my savegame to the PC). I bought the full bonus pre-order pack on GoG in a sale, because that pack was cheaper than just the bonus goodies on Steam, and then I switched playing on GoG. But what would happen to the bonus pre-order item and pet that I only own on GoG when I switch to Steam? It will be probably more convenient to switch back to Steam on my laptop, for that sync between computers.
  7. Today I installed PoE on my game PC (until now I had only played it on my laptop) When I started the newly installed - from Steam - game, I found a 'continue' option, and when I clicked that, I found myself in a save game from last week. In the load menu I saw all my save games that were older than about a week. Does Steam look for save games on other PC's in the same network? How does that work? And why not the latest ones (maybe it didn't have the White March II installed when I started the game, for when I had closed the game, I saw PoE was still downloading something in the Steam Library screen).
  8. I didn't have a large shield. Only found it after the battle. Don't know if it was even available at the smith in the village, and I missed the one in the keep until after the battle because it was it a place that I had sneaked. Could have collected it before the battle, but in the end it wasn't decisive. But now Edér is equipped with a fine large shield, and we are rooting out some vermin in the Endless Paths.
  9. Yes, I have used this in previous, easier fights. In this fight I only used the 2nd level powers, to attack the Archmage, after the Priest had been destroyed early.
  10. Following Boeroer's instructions, this fight was easy (well, I do play on Normal) Not a scratch for anybody, except the bear, who took some damage, but was very useful to attack those who moved into the gap between the doorpost and Edér. I also scattered a lot of traps on the approach. Unfortunately Iconic Projection could not pass through the doorway, but Durance could used some Divine Mark. Kana's skeletons attacked the Archmage, couldn't damage him, but that distracted a lot of fighters who moved back to protect their Mage, and that helped cleaning up the front. The Mage was shortly after slain by a barrage of remote attacks. I learned a lot, thanks to all your help.
  11. Thanks for the very extensive advice. I looked up Ale. So that is your generel opinion of food? Ah, I didn't think of luring the whole enemy party that far away. And I had disregarded those +Movement effects until now, but here I see a very useful pattern. (I could use other +Movement effects instead of Kana's chant just the same, but Kana's is 'free'?) Unfortunately Edér's Lore is only 1. Something to improve for the next level I presume. He uses Gaun's Share and Larder Door (the only good big shield I have). I don't think the secondary weapon slot is too important at the moment, he probably won't get a shot before melee begins, with the last minute manoeuvring ito place? Aloth doesn't know Eldrtich Aim, nor Combusting Wounds. I have used Necrotic lance a lot. And he has Aspirant's Mark. I guess I will add this to the Chillfogs before using the offensive spells? How does Consecrated Ground work? Does it give the extra endurance multiple times over time? When does it give them the extra endurance? I haven't changed his clothing or weapons. He doesn't have it. Holy Radiance itself doesn't seem too usefull in this fight, but it is just a little healing for everyone later in the fight I guess. Does Blessed Was Wendgridh also stack with itself, or should I combine it with another chant for the initial action? I am considering using the Arquebus for the combat initiating shot, then switching to Fine Arbalest for the support fire from behind, then, when he has to take the front line a Fine Sword with Fine Small Shield. I have given him Fine Brigandine, because he may have to step into the melee. She is a Cypher. I hired her at the Inn, for the expedition to Raedric. I thought - because of the information I got from Kolsc - that I had to go through the sewers (but now I see in the journal that an alternative route is mentioned) so I wanted a high Mechanics character for traps and locks. I had ventured with a 5 member party until then. I considered combat power as secondary, but I wanted to try out the Cipher, as I had no idea what that would be like. So now she will operate from behind (but she has useful Powers for that position). I have given her a Fine Arbalest. For her Focus I understand she must do damage. Is that Arbalest a good weapon for that purpose? I have put her into just a Fine Robe now, because she will operate from behind, just like Loor. Only Edér and Kana now have strong armour (I gave Edér back his own Armour, before I thought I should use the highest protection for the frontline).
  12. I posted about my situation in the Stories forum, and was invited to ask for advise here. I have now fought this battle with Raedric four times, but I can't win it. The best I got until now was one character (Fara) fighting the last 3 enemies and losing. The tactics I tried a few times was form a line on the stairs with three melee fighters, put traps in front. I have developed my characters (4th level) naively, just taking what seemed fun, because I don't know the optimisation techniques yet. Loor has a bear with two upgrades for fighting harder. Bear stands in the front row. He himself starts in the back dealing special damage with his bow. Aloth stands in the second row, generally dealing damage with his spells. Edér stands in the centre front, as a Defender, engaging 3 enemies. Durance stands in the middle on the second row, healing when necessary, dealing damage otherwise. Kana stands in the frontline. Fara begins shooting, then joins the melee. Everybody drinks a potion at start. Bear and Kana fall a bit too early in the fight, Edér holds out for a long time, Kana can plug one hole, but the second hole exposes Aloth and Durance. Maybe I should move Loor closer to the line to join melee in the second hole, to protect my two casters longer. Or should I approach this fight completely differently? This is the savegame with the party in the throne room http://springelkamp.nl/usr/files/games/PoE/a71e75a8a12a458fba55e2423bba8188%209376488%20RaedricsKeep.savegame There all the details of my characters can be viewed.
  13. I'll first try a few ideas of myself, and if if keep failing, I'll come back for expert help. I play on Normal with a ranger with a bear (named Loor), with Aloth, Edér, Durance, Kana, and I recruited an Orlan Cipher (called Fara) with high mechanics and stealth for locks and traps at the Black Hound Inn, especially for the Lord of a Barren Land. I have acquired Caed Nua. One of the things I am still not so sure about is the optimal armour level for my characters. Who to keep agile in light armour, and who to armour up as a tank. Edér is my main tank (together with my bear), Kana starts with a few distance shots, then enters the melee. I use Fara to engage flanking foes, but she proves a bit fragile. I try to keep Durance directly behind the front, Aloth a bit back and occasionally holding a flank. Loor starts from the distance dealing damage to the strongest enemies with his bow, but he can jump into a hole in the line. This simple setup was good enough until now, but I was worn down by Raedric in my first attempt. But there I was already surrounded at the start of the fight. My first attempt now will be to try to be less surrounded when the fight starts, and doing little optimisations like entering well fed and starting using potions early (does a potion negate the previous food?). Also I'll take my time to analyse all my Priest spells (there are so many for a new player to get a good picture) and start the fight with long term buff spells. I will also optimise Aloth's grimoire for this fight against humans. In all my previous fights I could rely on just my per turn abilities, and only tapped into the one-time or per rest items and abilities when things got a bit scary. But this fight I will have to go all in from the start I guess.
  14. Yeah, I found it, I hadn't realised that there was a 3rd way to enter the hold, and thought I needed to move from the dungeon upwards. But then I found (from above) that I had simply missed an ordinary door on the North side that connected the dungeon to the ground level. I feel a bit stupid now for asking Now I have to improve my fighting skills to beat Raedric. This looks like the toughest fight I had until now (after taking on the bear in the cave on my own in the beginning, that didn't go well).
  15. I entered the dungeon of Raedric’s Hold, cleared out all the monsters, and then talked with Osrya, pretending to side with her, so she would give me entrance to the upper levels. However, that door in the North-West corner remains closed, and I have run out of ideas how to proceed. I even searched for guides, but those suggested that after agreeing with Osrya I should be able to just go to the upper level. What am I missing?
  16. Hallo, I just started playing PoE, and I still have many things to learn. When does friendly fire happen? Is it like this according to the description?: Foo AoE: no friendly fire possible AoE: friendly fire will happen Friendly AoE: effect only applies to friends Also, can the effect on the symbol under the character be trusted in this respect?: - When it changes to a target cross, the character will be affected - When it doesn't change, it is not affected (except when it was already under attack by the caster) What is the meaning of the ring and fainter circle around the centre?
