  1. Can you confirm whether it has to do with movement on snow? Try to find an area in White March that doesn't have terrain that can produce footprints etc., walk on it with party and see whether you get similar problem. Also, try moving party members independently (one at a time), in twos, threes, etc., and see if that also affects anything. I had a similar problem at one point and it was supposedly patched (well, the negative effect on performance was reduced anyways); your situation sounds similar.
  2. You may not have technically claimed that Europe and America are the only regions to do this, but you heavily imply that Europe and America are special from the rest in this regard when they're obviously not. Empires and expansionism are a human characteristic (unification of the China we know today; Mongolian Empire; Japan in WW2; it's pointless to list any more, it never ends), not a regional one. I don't know of many genocides off the top of my head, but there was the Armenian genocide by the Turks (not American or European). Depending on your exact definition of genocide, I'm sure there have been more throughout history that we're simply not aware of. Pardon me if I'm misunderstanding, but you seem to be separating the societal aspect of humanity from evolution, as if societies aren't by definition an output from evolution. The most apparent evolutionary reason for war seems to be resource redistribution, which of course matches perfectly with evolution, but there's no reason why you couldn't find other evolutionary reasons for it. Again, forgive me if I'm misunderstanding you. Anyways, to answer your question OP, let's not forget the role magic plays in all of this. From my previous paragraph, you could also argue that the Aumaua never conquered because there was never any pressure to (for example, lacking resources, imminent threat from other groups, etc.). If they had plenty of resources to begin with, then taking unnecessary risks (all-out war) to gain more resources would be counter-intuitive. I'm not a history or lore buff for this, so someone else will have to comment on whether this could fit (unless the developers haven't given enough lore to say one way or the other). I'm really not sure, all I can say is societies are very complex and when factoring in things like chance, etc., we could think of all kinds of reasons why they wouldn't be dominant. Same goes for Obsidian (gods stepped in to prevent one group from dominating; a string of plagues affected Rauatai throughout history; etc. etc.).
  3. I thought Durance's dialogue had personality, not sure I see all the run-on sentences etc. you're talking about. Grieving Mother was very hard for me to get through, though, because nothing about her really made me care, for whatever reason..
  4. Ew, I hated GM. I agree with others, she was boring. I also found her and her writing kind of cringey..least favorite companion of all by far. Hiravias was inconsistent for me; sometimes I thought his dialogue was well-written and funny, others I found it cringey and forced. The rest were great, although I haven't had a chance to really experience the WM companions. I think my favorites were Pallegina, Aloth, Durance, and Kana.
  5. Hey, sorry I'm late. They're really good! Did you draw them yourself, or edit an existing drawing/photo? Agreed, very good picture.
  6. My already surprisingly low fps (~20-30) drops to dumpster-tier ~10 as my party members walk through snow and leave footprints in White March areas. Is there any console command to disable footprints or w/e so I can play with semi-decent fps? Specs: AMD Phenom II x4 940 (3ghz) 6gb memory (stick went bad, going to get a new computer semi-soon anyways, so never replaced) GeForce GTX 650ti Boost (2gb) Appreciate any help, thx!
  7. I'm really thinking hard on games that are as you describe, but I really can't think of any....the only game that comes to mind is Star Control 2, but that's sci-fi rpg and far and away different from games like PoE, so you don't get that much choice in how the game ends or dialogue choices don't affect much, etc.....also it's old, so outdated graphics =P Also, I hope this isn't considered a rude question, just ignore it if you don't wanna answer it, but I'm just purely curious: Would you mind expanding on what you mean by sensitive? Is it like a 'safe space' type situation where you try to avoid this type of stuff in general, or a pure escapism situation for your games ala "I expose myself to this stuff enough in rl, I want my games to be devoid of negativity," or, like, a physical reaction type thing, like for example my sister gets really, really anxious and emotional when she sees or hears people talk about nail damage, torture scenes involving nails, etc., and when I see slices and blood I sorta get a physical reaction too, like I have sliced my thumb before to the point where I can see into it, and I just get an unbearable reaction to it, like I get this weird 'falling' feeling in my uh...lower regions, and I have to cringe and shake my hands to get over it (ugh, I know it sounds crazy in words, it's hard to describe). Again, I'm not trying to challenge you or anything, just curious. Regardless, good luck finding what you're looking for!
  8. Oh, don't worry about 'ragging' me =) It's so obvious you're trying to be helpful, and you are, and I appreciate it! I really like the edit you did, and I agree my gold is way too saturated, but after those edits (again, really good!), it now looks more bronze than gold, and that's the problem I was having as a novice, it seemed like every time I wanted a specific color, I had to turn saturation or brightness up to actually get gold rather than a snot yellow or something, doh. I followed your advice and these are what I came up with; does it look unsaturated enough? One on the right looks better (more shadow on the shoulders)? Also, just curious, I know you edited that image just as an example, but do you also think the face coloration is too saturated as well, or did you think it looked ok? I made it a little transparent to try and make it pop a little less, but not sure if it needs more maybe? I also edited this image as well, dunno if it looks better Thanks again for all the help! =)
  9. No problem, I actually chuckled when I looked up Andy Warhol and saw his artwork. But I couldn't tell the tone of the joke, so I also died a little inside =P Thanks for the comment, and if only art were so easy, we'd be swimming in portraits lol
  10. Thanks for the tip! Honestly, I haven't touched photoshop (well, GIMP in this case) in like....~10 years, and even then I just made *really* crappy/amateur forum sigs, so I really have no clue what I'm doing. I do agree that my edits take away from the more natural look Obsidian put in their portraits, but with the armor, I could only get the 'colorize' option to color the armor without any weird color fragments. Also, do the eyes also stick out too much? It was hard for me to notice the eye color without the saturation, and I really like more visible eyes in my portraits, adds personality. I can fiddle around with the saturation more, is that basically your problem with the first set, it 'pops' too much? Thanks again! Guessing that's a criticism? Sorry D= I really did try to avoid making them obnoxious looking. I'll try my hand again; when I was coloring them, I was minimizing and maximizing the game to compare color, and so I think I changed the portraits to uh...'pop out' as much as the colored aumaua models, which doesn't match the artwork where the coloring is more natural, subtle colors.
  11. Ahoy mateys, I have brought you more images. Again, I tried to keep the colors close to what you can get in the character creation, so I hope someone can enjoy them! Also, I discovered the smudge tool is my friend, boy is it a pain editing stuff out and in and trying to have everything blend in the end! P.S. TY Obsidian for the beautiful artwork =)
  12. Hey guys, this is my first post! I was trolling through these forums looking for awesome portraits and then I saw Ineth's post and it inspired me to try my own hand at coloring Obsidian's wonderful portraits! I decided on Aumaua 'cause there's not nearly enough of them, stupid humies crowding all the dev time =) I am basically a huge newb when it comes to photo editing, but I worked really hard on these so I figured I'd give them to anyone who thinks they look ok. If anyone thinks they look weird or bad or w/e, I'd appreciate any feedback! Also, I have the .xcf file where I divided a bunch of stuff in the original image into separate layers; if anyone wants it to try to color it themselves or w/e, I'd be glad to upload it. EDIT: I changed the portraits a tiny bit, hope they still look ok; I'm planning to color edit the other aumaua image or a dwarf next, hope they turn out ok
