I am not quite sure about this point, as I, and several other posters, said that "good" and "evil" are merely concepts and thus are open to individual and cultural interpretation. To quote myself: "...everything in this world is debatable - there are no absolutes, no inherently good, and no inherently evil."

He might have been manipulated into accepting a harmful belief, but he, himself, is not necessarily evil.
