  1. My take on it is, the Jedi Code of "There is no emotion, there is peace," is something that a Jedi strives to maintain every day. It's something to try and live by, it's not like a force power that you "get" once you become a Jedi.

Vader tells luke to give into his feelings, because doing so makes it easier for Luke to succumb to the darkside, which is what Vader wants. Bastila constantly nags Revan about it, because she knows who he really is and doesn't want him to become a dark lord again. What Obi-Wan said was correct...from a certain point of view.  ;)  Obi-Wan's intent was for Luke to open himself to the Force and reach out with his perceptions, not his emotions... but watching the movie, don't you think it just sounds better than having him say, "Reach out with your perceptions Luke." ?

That makes sense, yes. And it's possible Bastilia's just a nag, like her mother - the darkside was just an excuse. o:);)

  2. Feelings are emotions, unless I'm mistaken. Granted, touch as in feel isn't an emotion, but... unless I'm really missing something, what you feel is directly linked to one's emotions. How one feels. "How are you feeling," for example. It could be "sad, good, bad" what have you. Unless I'm making the wrong connection entirely...

  3. She simply cant accept that anyone have power over her.

She is as a twisted puppy as they come, and she is willing to kill everything in the universe to teach the universe that she is not to be messed with. She is as dark as they come, and ultimatly much worse threat then even the emperor ever will be (he settle for destroying a few worlds that don't obey him).

And that is why she's so loveable. It's sad that none of the protagonists have such a defined goal as hers. They all seem to allow others to control them - and actually stand for it. Maybe they should have taken a page out of Kreia's book. Let nothing control you; that is true strength. ;)

  4. All right, so it just crossed my mind for no particular reason - in the OT, Obiwan tells Luke to "use his feelings" or reach out with his feelings or something along those lines, when he's got that helmet over his head and swinging that lightsabre around. Yet... the Jedi code from K1&2 says "there is no emotion, there is peace" - right, so this is a contradiction right?

Vader tells Luke to give into his feelings of hate, rage, anger, etc... so I am a bit confused. Was this some sort of oversight, or deliberate? Moreover, Bastila scolds Revan on a daily/hourly/momentary basis for being overly emotional. (or so it seems to me - slight exageration, maybe) so... who is right? ;)

  5. I'd like to see the Mandalorian Wars as a film. You know, with Revan in "his" robes commanding, but never to actually see "his" face. Jedi fighting Mandalorians, a sort of prequel to Kotor. That sort of thing would be fun.

  6. So your admitting that your opinion of Luke is ill-infomred?  The KOToR games are all we have to base our perception of Revan off of.  However, the movies are only a tenth of the material we know about Luke.  Beyond that, the movies chronicle Lukes initial understanding of the Force and how to use it.  Comparing Luke from the movies to Revan is like only looking at footage of Michael Jordan in High School and saying Julius Erving would PWN him.

If you want to be that blunt, then I suppose so, yes. But based on the OT and Kotor, I would say Revan would win.

Even if the movies are only a tenth, I feel I should point we haven't seen K3 either. Revan won't be at the height of his power until then, when all of his memories have returned I think, so I think that evens the score a little, don't you?

  7. Of course... there is another amnesia solution - the players could beat themselves senseless and forget about K1&2 in preperation for K3. That way we wouldn't remember anything... :-"

Actually, back on topic, I rather like the idea of being present at the Star Forge's destruction. Hmm... Play as a force sensative Black Rakanta- damnit, I can never spell those things right. You know, from that planet before. One of the "Builders". :D

  8. Fair enough. I don't read any of that EU stuff either or pay any attention to any of that. For me, it's just the Prequel Trilogy, the Original Trilogy and the Knights of the Old Republic games...But I still like Luke Skywalker more because I just do!

I suppose the original characters of any setting all have their own appeal, if only because they are the originals.

    I still say Revan! :-"

  9. Fair enough. In that case I vote for Luke Skywalker. You hate Luke Skywalker, why? He's better than Revan IMO.

He's Anakin-spawn and a farmboi to boot. Oh and he's as whiny as his old man. But not as angst-ridden thankfully..

And just so you know, I never read any of the Star Wars novels and I don't intend to either. Why not? I simply don't have the inclination - I'd rather just watch the OT and leave it at that.

Sooo I've only Revan from Kotor 1&2 to compare to Luke from Episodes 4-5-6. And that's why Revan wins. Imho, of course. :D

  10. Playing a youngling sounds interesting. The problem is that the game would inevitably fall under the "for kids" label for sure.

    A DS youngling...  :D

Oh please can I play a whiney 8 year old :-"

Seriously though. You can have a fable style prologue if you want to start the character at that age. But still be an "adult" when the game proper starts.

*starts twitching* And I'm quite sure that he shall be crying out for Padam- Bastila too. After winning a swoop race. And hanging around with gunga- Twi'lek. And he won't grow up to be Darth Vad- whoever. *twitch twitch*

Seriously, I wouldn't want to play anyone too young unless they did a Fable Style Age thing, as you others have mentioned. Oh I see it now. "Momm- Master Bastila! Kreia's Force Ghost won't leave me alone! Wah!" :p:):-"

Okay, no problems then. Sorry about the anger in my reply too. I place your vote in number 9.

    K. :) Glad everything's sorted out. :p

I still want to see deflect force lightning in K3, damnit!

  11. You cannot compare a VIDEO GAME CHARACTER to a MOVIE CHARACTER. I see most people think Revan would win so far, well there stooges, I mean, would everybody be saying that if Luke Skywalker was the VIDEO GAME CHARACTER who could do all that 'cool' stuff Revan does and Revan was the guy from the movies made in the 70's? That's something for you Revan fanboys to think about...

Woah, chill man. This was meant solely as tongue-in-cheek. Nothing serious, y'know? I don't honestly expect anyone to compare Revan to Luke seriously.

    And I'm not a fanboi! I'm not! I just hate luke

  12. Then READ the choices Dvan. Do you want to vote for option 8,9,10 or perhaps 14??? They are not related to anyone!!!!!

I read and I disliked most of them. I'm sorry I didn't make it clearer, but it was late last night. I thought I'd forgotten to add something to my reply. I also freely admit that I somehow missed 8 and 9. I'm not sure how. I'll ratify that now:

    After a careful re-read -

Okay, 8 or 9 - mm, maybe. Possibly. I don't like 12 or 14. Yes, either of these two would work. Just as long as its done right and without making the PC into the next "SuperJedi" or "SuperSith".

:p A Jedi padawan grown up on a Republic world or someone discovered by the Jedi order and taken in for training*

    9) A force sensitive grown up in the Outer rim or in the Unknown regions (not discovered by the Jedi) *

So my vote will be for 8 or 9. It doesn't especially matter which. 9 might be more interesting since we've already had Revan and the Exile and both of them were trained by the Council. Perhaps 9 could come to this New Jedi Council formed by the Exile freely for training. *shrug*. But yes, that gets my vote.

  13. ...Besides, no matter who Mara Jade was, or how good she was... Bastila has Revan. Revan would wipe the floor against any who stood in his way. So by default, Bastila wins. :-"

Mara would bitch slap Bastilla first of all. And you're forgetting who Mara has in her corner....Luke Skywalker. I don't think that Revan is wiping the floor with "THE Jedi Master"....so by default Mara wins by a landslide.

Pfft. Revan would *own* Luke. There is no comparision. :D

At the risk of sounding like a Revan fanboy... :ermm: Luke's a pansy. Revan would beat him, either as LS or as DS. Besides, Luke has this habit of jumping or falling down pits. Even if Revan has a habit of being captured and brainwashed... :-"
