  1. Given that there appears to be never a disadvantage to having both sneaking and scouting activated, beyond slower move speed which is rarely relevant in game terms, it seems to make sense to have both scouting and sneaking as always-on abilities. I never see any reason not to have the mode on, and if you were to split the modes I would never see any reason to not have both modes on. I'm disinclined to advocate for splitting the modes because I don't believe that would affect the core problem: that both modes should always be on.
  2. Hmm, well, the whole thing seems like it ought to be pointless to me but apparently it isn't so... yeah, I guess it is a good principle that all achievements in a game should be open to everyone.
  3. Not a particularly big fan of the rest restrictions in this game, but they're not too bad. I tend to prefer unlimited resting with no interruptions, and just play naturally until I can't get any further without resting. When I did some BG2 modding the way I approached resting restrictions was to track number of rests in an area, and progressively beef up the enemies (typically pre-buffing them and similar things) so you can rest as much as you like but if you rest when you don't really need to you're just making it harder for yourself. Not particularly much harder, I never wanted to block serial resters from progressing, but just a little bit to incentivise not resting where possible.
  4. Steam has a function that allows you to make backups of installed games. I can't remember offhand what the function is called. But you could download the full game using Steam on your laptop, make a backup of it on your laptop, transfer the backup to your main PC, and then on the main PC use Steam's "restore backup up game" function to install from the backup.
