  1. Eh it is not that big of a problem. The reason games are released with bugs is that it is really really hard to make software this complicated bugfree.

     

    Game makers already work absurdly long hours. I am not a sadist. Heck I am impressed and grateful anybody works in that crazy industry.

     

    THIS is exact the lie I was talking about!

     

    Espezialy computer games do NOT have that many code lines compared to other software.

    Quake 3 engine (just the graphic) a bit over 300k lines.

    Cry Engine 2 or Age of Empire online a bit over 1 millions lines.

    Unreal 2 engine around 2 million lines.

     

    Compared to something simple like Google Chrome which has 5-7 million lines ...

    Facebook 60++ million lines (WTF??? what for??? *g*).

    Average modern car software 100++ million lines.

     

    Games are NOT that complicate and most of the code is invented 35+ years ago and can be downloaded!

     

    And just imagin ... if a computer game with let's say 3 million code lines has so many (and sometimes critical) bugs ... would you EVER again trust a modern car software? :) With auto park asistent, auto drive (Google-Car), break asistent, lane hold asistent, routing-planer ... what ever :).

     

    The second statement is, unfortunatly, true :(. But it hits all and everyone working as software engineer. In germany for example we have no spezial IT union and no collective agreement :(. That's why I stoped to work as game coder. Yea, I did this job 3 years. Up to 18 hours 7 days every week. The closer the release date, the more hours. I started it as I LOVE games ... then I had to learn the hard way what's your position ... and what the position of the publisher/investors (the REAL bad boys) :(.

    I decided: before I'm part of a BUGed release because of greedy publishers/investors  ... I'll never be part of this modern slave holders anymore.

  2. I honestly can't see a problem, if Obsidian are releasing patches to fix these bugs. The game has been out for a week. A week!

    PoE isn't that much of a problem, just part of the bigger picture ;). IF the patch fixes (hopefully) the major bugs then Obsidian did decent work.

     

    The real problem is, that there is no game release anymore, which has no BUGs. And it seams to get worse every year with more and more game-breaker BUGs :(. And this BAD status has reached the "standart". And that there are still people, who praise/defend this BAD status-quo :(. Sometimes with stupid try-hard arguments like "just a game" or "it's still new" (35+ YEARS is not "new"!!!! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUD)).

     

    We, the custumer, should NOT and NEVER accept this behavior!

    Nobody deny, that PoE is "relative" well released. That's why I am stil "relative" polite ;). Assassin's Creed, Elite Dangures and other debacel still in memory.

    Yea, Bild (tabloid journalism, I know). But this articel hit's it pritty much and there should be harder laws against unfinished/broken software products where we, the paying custumers, get more power ... and ways to get our money back.

     

    The biggest problems are:

    a) law courts mostly have no damn clue about software/IT

    b) the global problem (how to sue Ubisoft from the US/Australia or Microsoft from Europe?? Not even talking about companies in Rusia/Asia like Wargaming/Sony)

    c) the cost for a singel person

  4. I suppose the solution is to stop buying Obsidian games and simply wait patiently for Nintendo to make a game like PoE.

    Much better solution would be to not be that short minded and set higher standarts.

     

    A Computer Game is a product like every other product. If released with to many BUGs => 14 days to fix them, then money back.

     

    Hell, you US guys sue everyone for everything. Even if someone is so STUPID (normal human brain above the IQ of a sandwich tells you: DO NOT DO IT) to put his dog in a microwave he sue the producer of the microwave and get's millions of $. Can't belive you are so damn forgiving when it comes to software .....

    Every Nintendo game did.

     

     

    Yep, Nintendo in the 80's. The Nintendo that pissed off developers with their Q&A so much that all the third party developers left them. Those were the good days, I guess. 

     

    Also, PC/Console.

     

    There is no reason or excuse for BUGs!

     

    When did you heared about a CPU, GPU, Mainboard or Car which had so many BUGs when released? And much more important: what would YOU do if you buy such a BUGed product?? Would you still be as forgiving as you are when it comes to software??

     

    And NO, software isn't more complicate then any other product (that's an old lie!).

    And NO, you don't need to invent everything new. All important routins are invented since late 1970. The only difference between a good MUD from 1970 and PoE 2015 is the visual output (graphic instead of text). Why should someone forgive BUGs in 2015 where the solutions come from 1970 ???? Big and fat NO reason to fogive !!

     

     

    Your definition for game breaking is maybe too wide, because game don't have that many actually game breaking bugs (bugs that prevent one to play or finish the game).

    One is to much allready! Like the "perma crash when loading new map" or "disapearing important key and can't open this important door".

    BUGs which don't let you advance are gamebreakers ... and stuff like this should NEVER EVER happen! No reason to excuse them in any way! Not even as biggest fanboy!

  6. I enjoy the game and I plan to replay it. I don't share your opinion about having 0 reasons to replay the game.

     

    But... I agree the game feels average and combat is a bit meh.

     

    I'll still give it 9/10, wanna know why? Because there wasn't a game this good for a long long time. My expectation have dropped to abyssmal levels and this game, as flawed as it is, is just what I wanted to play. And there is your answer. Yes BG was better, but since then expecation for this kind of games have dropped severely.

    Sad but true :(.

     

    PoE is a solid game. That's it.

    Less BUGs then many other games ... but still to many!

    Can you imagin BMW or Toyota would release a new car where several parts aren't working as they should? Or a graphic card which has several BUGs?

    ALL of you would instantly bring it back to the shop where you bought it!

     

    I just can't understand, why users are so forgiving when it comes to software :(. It's a product like every other product! And creating software is in no way more complicate then crating a graphic card or car (hell, modern cars include billions of code lines too).

     

    But all I ever see is this damn STUPID: "just a game" bull****!

  7. A true Endless Path :).

     

    Very much a random created dungeon which resets once a day/week/turn (ingame time! *g*). New monsters, new ways, new traps. Maybe with the ability to chose difficulty (easy = monsters are charlevel-2, normal = charlevel-1, hard = charlevel, expert = charlevel+1 or what ever fit).

    - monster could be any you already fought (including NPC factions fromt the citys).

    - either several levels (like Endless Path) or realy big free-air maps with several small attached (cave or house each with 1 to 3 levels).

    - Finishing (clearing) would give group EXP.

    - "Rare Spawns" like the bounty champs which have a changs to drob cool loot ;).

     

    At the moment there is no reason (no way?) to continue play after you finished all quests and killed all monsters as there is no respawn. This "never ending encounter" would let you do it :).

  8. Seriously people, this is a *tactical* game. You can't just click on enemies once and expect the engine to do all the work for you. Micro managment is the name of the game.

    Any "tactical" game with a unit-pathfinding like PoE wouldn't reach a 5/10 in any gametest ;).

     

    Just a short example:

    My unit locations: A_B_C

    If I now want A to get right side of C ... he will for sure get stuck at B and try to go straight through B! The pathfinding routin is just not smart enaugh to let A do a step south and then go east. Or maybe the pathfinding routine could handle it but is BUGed, don't know.

     

    Another bad bahavior is, that auto-attack "overwrite" my commands :(.

    Ever tryed to run away with a 2*Dagger max DEX char? Nearly imposible as he turns around all the time trying to auto-attack the monsters! If I tell him "RUN", I expect him to run until I tell him to do something else or he reached the destination I told him. THEN he might auto-attack if something is close.

     

    So yes, I can understand Heatsink :). Pathfinding is terrible in this game.

     

     

    Might be an interesting feature request to allow you to queue up movement waypoints for a character though, so you can move them more precisely without having to babysit them at every stage.

     

    You CAN move them in waypoints, and que actions as well. Just hold the shift key when clicking :)

  9. Well, even if I do like this game and even it is done overall good ... it is far from "perfect" ;).

     

    My personal biggest - is the TERRIBLE pathfinding :(. Not only in fights where a char isn't able to find his way from the left to the rigth side of the battle but to in normal walk where half the group suddenly got stuck at a random tree which stands solo in the wild. This is a major BUG in 2015 as you can simply download a better pathfinding routin from open source projects!

     

    And Metro is right when they write: "no inovations". But hell, even a BWM I8 has no REAL inovation ;). First electro cars had been used around 1835. If the industrie hadn't focused so much on normal combustion engines .. who knows how great electro cars could be today :).

     

    My point: sometimes everything IS invented allready for a looooong time and there isn't anything realy "NEW" which would improve it alot ;).

    Or is here a singel person who belives Diablo3, Elder Scrolls, World of Warcraft are even a tiny bit "inovating"???? Inovations had been done 1970 ... now only tiny graphic updates are done (MUD with HUD *g*).

  10. I like my tank Paladin even if the bad pathfinding hinders him to get his full potential :(.

     

    Wizard and Cipher are great once you learned to handle all the spells :).

     

    Hunter might be the easiest of all classes (only 2 peer-fight abilitys, rest is auto attack).

     

    I dismissed my Chanter as most fights are over when he got his 4 chant stacks ... or the party is dead allready *lol*. But he is for sure a great suporter later on.

    But both too miss the informations from Reddit as example (and any other source which I hard-refuse to use like facebook, twitter). It feels so damn unconfortable if I need to wast hours of hours searching the hole damn www. if I could just visit the product page and forum :(.

  12. I saw several links to reddit or other pages where devs answared. But I can't seam to find many posts of them here.

     

    I know many people love "social networks" or "universial pages" like reddit ... but I still strongly belive the MAIN sourc for information about a product (like this game) should be the MAIN-Page of the product ... which are http://eternity.obsidian.net/ + http://forums.obsidian.net/forum/87-pillars-of-eternity/ . NOT reddit!

  13. wizard is by far the highest overall damage done dealer in the game. just one mage can wipe out a enemy group with fireball in 30 seconds. [3-5 fireballs/spells mind you]

    OR you wipe your own party with the Fireballs *g*.

     

    I nearly use only 3-4 spells as all other do more damage to my own guys then to the enemys :(. At last my tanks are nearly freez-imun so I can use the freez/coold AoEs.

    But one wrong lightning AoE from my Wizzard and I wipe out ALL of my tanks with one cast ;).

     

    My top damage dealer is ... my Paladin tank *g*. Not that he would realy do so much damage, but he is the one who allways survive and fights all the time :).

    Against singel targets my Hunter (including his pet) seams to be most effective.

    For AoE nothing can beat a full loaded Wizard I belive. His biggest - is, that you have to rest after each fight to keep him effective as his "peer fight" ability is terrible.

    2) Disapeared quest NPC (items)

    First happned again in Readric's Hold where a quest Key vanished.

    Now I can't find the Man with the red Cape who is needed for the Bear-Cave quest :(.

     

    3) Pathfinding of my group members - yes, I consider this a BUG!

    Guys realy? It's nearly imposible to play with more then 3 meele heros as they wouldn't be able to find a path AROUND other party members??? A freaking pain to play with this BUG! It's fine if they block each other in tiny passages ... but not if the fight happens at an open field!

     

    4) Retreat does not work.

    No matter how far I run away with the last survivor of my party, no matter if the enemy turned around loooooong ago ... the fight never ends :(. Means there is no changs to change the map and call reinforcement (hire new champs) or to resque my knockedout party members. I MUST reload a saved game.

     

    I know there are "cheats" (console) to bypass the 1) and 2) bugs. But I HATE to use cheats in any form or for whatever reason!

    Is there any changs of a bug-fix patch at all? (don't know Obsidian).
