  1. priest of skaen, coastal aumaua, merchant (stats: 20 17 19 3 3 16). talented move speed at 2 and sword/shield at 4. this might be bad, i haven't decided yet. maybe priest needs int for higher level so you can use a bunch of buff spells and be a strong fighter. at lower level for priest i think this is good. priest is weak but level 3 is easy to get if you use Calisca to get through prolog. then you have 2 dps spells, divine mark and barbs of condemnation. i don't think it's good compared to other classes, but they can kill things. and you have withdraw which is good in some situations, e.g. it used it to get through the first indoors room in caed nua – pull too many enemies, kill some in chokepoint with figurine and dps spells, use withdraw to get out of combat and go rest. without withdraw priest would have been stuck there. note i used the defenses rounding bug. if your deflection stats add to -1, you get -0 instead. (or if -2, you get -1, etc. +1 bonus for being negative). it also works with will, fort, reflex if you set up your stats right. in general i feel the priest, early on, lives long enough in fights but doesn't do damage well enough. it has really bad accuracy. EDIT: oh lol. testing more. seal size is affected by int. for some reason i thought it wasn't like traps. well i know why i thought it wasn't: it just shows one aoe circle, not 2 like regular spells (for my 18int priest in a different non-solo run) and cuz the seals have a fixed graphic size no matter what your int is.
  2. cuz we are on potd mode. you aren't. and cuz when i first tried him with 6 characters, he had enough dps to wipe the whole party. and cuz for priest lvl 4, i can't pew pew pew very well lol. i didn't know running away would make all his spells miss like Mipsy explains and that he would therefore run out of spells. that's funny. he still seems scary if it was ironman, at least for some classes, but that seems like it'll work fine with saving/reloading if needed.
  3. no, this is in patch notes. it's 10% more xp per missing party member, instead of 5%. it's not based on difficulty.
  4. caed nua main room is doable with priest (level 4 with figurine). for it to be ironman safe, you have to understand withdraw perfectly (i don't). a lot of places in the room, you use withdraw, they walk up to you, they walk away, it ends, combat instantly restarts, they walk towards you again. you can't get out of combat. but for some reason if i go to a specific spot in the chokepoint on the left and use withdraw, it worked to get me out of combat 4 times in a row. i don't understand it very well. but i killed a few guys in the chokepoint and then got out of combat with withdraw. so once i go back to town for rest + camping supplies, i'll finish this room no problem now. another thing i tried, maybe it's interesting: i lured them and stood kinda in the middle, used horn, sent it to the bottom chokepoint, used withdraw on myself. 4 went and killed my summon. i ran up after withdraw ended (i have 3 int, so it's shorter, which is actually useful sometimes lol). i got in combat with the 2 guys who didn't chase my summon and killed them. then i was at the top of the room, out of combat. but you can't rest in there, i couldn't open the door, couldn't talk to statue, i was just stuck.
  5. the main room my god Im thinking i need to go get some fire scrolls lol, therer is no way i can survive 5 phantoms and i dont see a way to split pull them AHHHHH just got inside with priest. left of the door is a choke point where only 2 fight you. maybe that will help you.
  6. i like abusing tethering. that was the best strategy in a lot of Warcraft 3 rpgs i've played. fun times IMO. lol. it's pretty funny if you do it right against a solo enemy where they basically don't attack you. but my accuracy is so bad i miss a ton. i wonder if maerwald is possible to do like that. if you can get separated from him, then could you go shoot him once and run away again, and repeat? otherwise i don't know how i'll ever pass him with priest. who has got past potd solo maerwald with anything but chanter btw? can someone like druid just dps him down fast before you die? can like a barb or monk just fight him kinda normally? oh i saw something about luring maerwald into the other enemies on the level, hmmmm
  7. i got potd priest up to 6530 xp just now by using companions to get through prolog. i did temple at level 3, skipping almost all fighting, just went straight to end. didn't do ranga thing yet and didn't touch raedric's, and i stealthed past everything in outdoor zones basically, except to get blacksmith goods, the cook, the bears, the ruins with wolves at start where u grapple. i'm not patched so i had figurine early. paying 5k for it would be tough. but what i wanted to say is, even with a class that is weak early on, i think you can do caed nua without figurine (not sure about the indoors part or maerwald thought, just thinking outdoors now). you can lure 1-2 guys at a time if you're careful. all you really need is war bow and some movement speed boost and some patience and carefulness. learn their tether ranges and abuse the ai. i'm not playing iron man right now. if it was iron man, it might be very dangerous for some classes. but rogue and priest have ways to escape battle, so if you mess up your pull you'll probably be ok. i managed not to get myself killed on phantoms so far. just shoot one arrow and run with move speed boost and be conservative about turning to fight at all. i have level 3 stealth. figurine makes it a lot nicer but if you just pull 2 guys you can use divine mark 3 times and some level 1 spells and you can win a fight. this is with 90 fortitude vs stun. 21might, 17con, coastal aunamua. with 10 DR armor and 5 freeze DR cloak. so i cleared out the first big pack at caed nua never fighting more than 2 at once, and 2 will o wisps after. coming straight from town and using 2 campfires (and with kana already dead from a previous trip). so it's pretty slow, partly cause priest, but it's doable stuff if you control the AI well. 2 at once with full resources can be done without figurine, even on priest, i think some other heroes would have that a lot easier, like chanter for sure would do great at this. at least given you have good stun defense. i could tank one phantom for quite a while with my priest and i'd only be stunned like half the time or something with the 90 defense against stun, i'd get some hits in (with the draining flail from the temple) and have opportunities to cast a dps spell or Withdraw if necessary. with 15 DR vs freeze, u don't die too fast. but without figurine, it'd be much slower and more annoying, though i think playing chanter would kinda make up for that, not sure about other classes, priest can't do a lot at low level though. dunno what i'm going to do about maerwald... my accuracy is so bad. i talented move speed and sword/shield. i'm not sure what's ideal for priest. the best god is Skaen i think with the 20% sneak attack talent, but the weapons that get +10 accuracy are stilleto and club, and i want to use the draining flail. maybe i should have gotten one of the +6 accuracy talents but i wasn't even sure which one. right now i'm finding war bow is the best, using weapons with a reload messes up kiting, whereas a bow will become usable again just from running back. having the figurine flank helps me hit stuff a lot, or i just cast a full rest worth of dps spells and that usually kills 1-2 things. if figurine was 5k i might have had to skip the blunting belt i bought, then i'd be able to buy figurine around now ish. blunting belt is really nice though. and it would have been a lot more annoying doing some of the easier parts to get level 4 without figurine for priest (for most classes except chanter, it'd be really annoying i think). i'm super worried about maerwald fight and maybe the indoor encounters. raedric fight sounds really tough too. might be better to just fight the guards and clear most of the place the hard way without doing the final fight. for priest. or maybe kill kolsc instead? anyone know what that's like? i've never seen that fight, i only fought raedric before.
  8. i reported the seals issue in the bug report section, people should be glad i share stuff like that in public instead of hiding it >>
  9. "Hey look at me, I abused an exploit. I could spam infinite seals. Or hey my character has 300 bugstacked DR, I beat the game easily. Please make it harder." - Neither of those grant you the right to speak on balance for the rest of us. You can report the exploit, but that would be about it since you got no experience in actually playing the game on PotD but rather on how to exploit your way through it without actually dealing with the content in a reasonable way. why are you so angry and mean?
  10. oh, i don't have the steam version so i didn't even see the achievement. ok then i will try it with companions in prolog i guess. 4 fights in a row or slaughtering the caravan is really hard without resting, but once i get past the prolog maybe priest can do better. i want to see.
  11. does someone actually know a way to solo priest through the start? or are people just assuming it's easy because they can do other classes? i'm not trying to kill anyone i don't have to. here are some of my notes on seeing how good a result you can get on the early fights: wolves 2weap: 97/131 died 97/131 98/131 2h: 95, 93, 116 2glan: 2h: die die 72hp die die. priest has bad stats and a pretty useless starting class ability. i can't figure out how learning the game better would make these fights go better. if anyone actually knows, tell me. if you don't know, don't flame me. i know i could do better with fire godlike but i don't have the patch and it's bugged. and i don't understand the suggestion to use a party member. the point isn't the xp, it's soloing... did some of you guys use the fighter to get through the tutorial and say you soloed?
  12. if they are listening, can they buff priest at the start? it can't do the first zone well solo potd... give us bearform on priest plz... just until i get to town the first time. still trying but this sucks. i killed all the regular caravan people and Heodan. but then i can't split odema from his 2 guards. the only way i know to split odema is like this: go where the horses are, shoot the guy north of you. about 8 caravaners and heodan come. stand in choke point. kill all caravanners. use withdraw. heodan walks away. now, if you go fight heodan in the right place, odema will come without his 2 guards. i got this to work with heodan almost dead. but then i died really fast when fighting 2 at once. i couldn't finish off heodan right away. i will go try fighting the glanfathan again now, but it's hard, you get worn down over the 4 fights, you have limited hp and just 2 spells. EDIT: this is coastal aunama that i'm trying right now with stats for +0 deflection, big might con dex, 3 int. so pretty good fighter but not the best. i'm not using fire godlike right now because of the bug, but it's definitely better at slaughtering the caravan with burn damage retaliation.
  13. i'm going to try to get through the tutorial with priest some more. does anyone know the math on what gear to use? 2h weapon? 2 weapons? shield? not too sure. buying brigandine generally makes enemies do minimum damage, so i wonder if killing them faster is the right way to go, or not. and if you use a shield, is accuracy (small shield) or deflection (medium) better? i will figure it out myself if needed, but if anyone already knows, let me know!
  14. awesome. i got some questions about how you do it. which spirit shift do you use? could you list the spells you cast frequently? and which spells did you use in the tutorial zone, before you have access to the inn? share your starting stats, too? and do you use stealth much? is that a key thing or not really?
  15. chanters can easily be fixed without hurting them for normal play. like the vision fix i suggested, where they don't create their own vision. this issue isn't about you and your playstyle, and fixing it won't affect you, so don't worry. although i do also think chanters are OP with normal play and the devs might want to nerf that.
  16. LOL bro, pretty sure I just read somewhere else that they made that combat only in the new patch so you can't prebuff with it! oh, doh, i can't patch yet cuz i'm on GOG not steam. somethign similar still might be possible with another class though.
  17. so, anyone want to make a skype group to talk about this? i'm curi42. i went on http://www.twitch.tv/ceranai for a while but it's just been offline.
  18. so, if you kill everyone in the caravan, you skip the tutorial zone. you don't have to fight any galathan. that's interesting. most of them are really weak (like 3hp and just die to fire godlike's burn ability) but some aren't. i wanted to loot them but that's hard. when combat ends and odema is dead, you go straight to the dungeon. but with chanter i managed to get out of combat after a phantom died. not sure why. just running away with priest hadn't gotten me out of combat. maybe i had to run further? not sure. i managed to loot a bunch of random guys but just got coins. i wanted to see which way is better to do the tutorial. i got 636 xp at start of dungeon using chanter and killing the camp. then i did it the regular way and ended up with 651 xp. so i think the only difference is the wolf beastiary xp. so with the caravan, when testing with priest, it seemed that if you start fighting them, you're stuck in combat, and then the moment it ends you're teleported to the dungeon. with chanter, you can very easily shoot one guy and run away and make a phantom cuz no one follows but you're in combat. so it's a really easy fight. but it was weird, with chanter i managed to get out of combat after a phantom death. not sure why he got out and priest didn't. maybe it's about how far away you run? or even difficulty mode, thought i doubt it? i was testing chanter on easy to test the xp for the different routes faster. another thing i found with the tutorial is getting the pistol seems to be RNG or else require 1 mechanics. i stood next to it in stealth mode for a while and couldn't find it with a 0 mechanics priest. i tried turning stealth on and off, and leaving and coming back, didn't help. another weird thing: when heodan is prisoner, i tried to shoot him before triggering the glanfathan. it says "This character is currently busy." and won't let you shoot him with a crossbow. if you start the fight by shooting a bandit with a crossbow before the dialog comes up, it instantly kills heodan. i guess that's the best way to do it for solo, instead of talking to them. for the fight with the glanfathan leader, you can use withdraw and they will walk away and leave you alone. you stay in combat permanently though. another thing: fast runner talent only grants move speed while in combat. so has anyone gotten a solo priest through the tutorial on potd expert? :D before the dungeon, with killing calisca at the start. withdraw doesn't work well to skip fights at the start and you can't rest yet or get movement speed talent yet. the main issue is your health pool getting worn down over multiple fights. the withdraw stuff is weird. on the fight with 3 hunters, if i run a bit and withdraw, the ranged one will leave, but the 2 melee won't, they actually keep running up next to you, and then it just ends combat before the withdraw duration is up, and then cancels withdraw, so i don't heal much. with the 2 hunter fight, i couldn't get away either. are any tutorial fights skippable? i tried getting 1 stealth from my background but still couldn't get past the wolves or glanfathan. anyone have ideas to get a priest through the start? PS Ceranai someone said that item drops depend on your character name. so it might vary for other people :/ it might actually be best if we all played with the same name lol. i'm using "c" for now, but there might be a different name which is superior. (even if we don't use the same name, use just one name yourself for consistency, unless you find name doesn't actually affect it, but the guy who said it did was showing some code, seemed to know what he was talking about)
  19. inspiring radiance (priest +accuracy on his per-encounter aoe heal) stacks with itself. and you can spam it when out of combat. i wonder what other per-encounter stuff might be stackable in a useful way. the priest +stats and move speed talent from his aoe heal doesn't stack with itself. maybe another class has something nice?
  20. the first 2 hunters in the tutorial do not retreat if you use withdraw. i think some enemies in the game (the ones spawned by triggers from cutscenes i guess) don't have spawn points they retreat to. interesting. but combat still DOES end early, so you don't get to heal up from withdraw very much. it's like wherever they are standing right now counts as their spawn point.
  21. There's nothing wrong with partaking in a discussion, but when you're throwing words around like "they shouldn't do .. X" and "balance" you're doing a bit more than that. You're taking a side, and without actual experience on what it's like for people who play PotD solo, you're making balance suggestions to the community and the devs. Changes you would most probably not suggest if you had actually tried the gamemode you're talking about. so i have to solo a priest on potd to level 11 before i can say whether or not they should make any changes to seals? EDIT: look, if i actually get something wrong, you or someone else can point it out.
  22. do some enemies actually have health regen, or is it only endurance regen? my impression from a couple really long fights is the stuff like fighters that regen endurance will stop eventually, because (i assume) they run out of health.
