  1. Hello,

Some time ago I read that you got overexperienced fast, especially with completionist gameplay style. That was before WM 1 and 2 so maybe something changed there (like the scaling option).

At the moment I am using IE mod to reduce it by 25% and I am wondering if I am suppossed to do it or not.

At the moment I am playing on hard and I am just after roederik castle mission so I guess I can still turn it off without big difference.

Anyone got any experience with reducing xp gain ? Any suggestions ? Maybe turn off reduce xp and play on POTD?

  2. Finally got the latest version and White March downloaded - about to start my first playthrough with the expansion ... think I'll build a cipher this time  :geek:

I am in similar situation. I stopped playing early cause I didn't like original version of the game without some essential functions and combat.

Are there any major issues now, or I should be able to enjoy it finally?

I read something about the stacking bug introduced again in version 3.0 which wasn't fixed in latest patch.

Anybody can verify what is the current status of the game?

  3. Hi,

I have never finished POE because combat, for me was a disaster.

I saw some positive changes in patch 2.0 and I was wondering how does it look like now?

Is enemy AI improved? Solo stealth working correctly? I saw somewhere that resistances/immunities were added, is this true?

Is engagement system still so broken so it only emphasize standing in choke points and tank&spank?

    Any other important changes?

Should I wait more for balancing the game further?

  4.

I rerolled my rogue when I found out that stealth is not individual... Backstab is almost useless with this design.

Wonder if they see it as something that has to be corrected or it is working as intended.

There has been hints that they will attempt to fix it at some point, but that they couldn't do it before release, due to how states work in Unity. Basically, Non-Combat is one State, Combat is one State, and Stealth/Scouting is another.

If this is a limitation of engine then fine, nothing they can do about it. Although as you said I saw somewhere, a conversation from beta duration that it was rather something which was quite a big change that would produce many bugs. It seemed like a they just didn't have time/resources to invest on that point.

Too bad that there is no, some kind of guideline for future patches.

General impression of what they would like to change/improve (if anyhing :p).

  5. They've promised to put out the beta in May. You can assume they're still on track for that until a) they say otherwise or b) it's the first of June.

"We are now working on patch 1.05 and will launch the beta for it during the week of April 20th. We're continuing to read through support threads and e-mails. Thank you, everyone!"

  6. Since there's no modding sub-forum yet and the BB sub-forums have been closed, I'll just leave a link to the IE mod here. It would be a shame to see it become buried after all the work that went into it.

There was an update on April 25th, does anybody know what's new?

The is a "Changes" pane in the main mod page. You can check what is new there.

  7. I don't understand what is a problem here. This is not bitching and whining but poiting out valid issues with POE.

If somebody already likes the game, I don't think that reading any review will change his/her mind.

When I read such a review I can see that I am not the only one who can see its flaws.

What is good about this that maybe somebody from Obsidian will read this and maybe they will think how they can improve this game.

This is what a constructive criticism can lead to.

Overally I didn't pay much attention to the development of POE.

I was pretty sure that Obsidian having so much experience and such a great team will be able to take what is best from the old IE games like BG2/Torment, improve or redone things that were badly designed and implement some new ideas. Finally adding new graphics on the top of that and you have a recipe for a great game.

Instead of that, they pretty much changed or removed many very good aspects of old IE game, redone whole system/class/combat system for the worst unfortunatelly. Took out some major functionalities from the game - combat stealth for example and many more.

I am just sad that I cannot fully enjoy this game at its current state because of some weird development decisions.

Once again I just hope that maybe something will change with future patches or maybe in expansion or POE2.

  8. Unfortunately the more I play this game the more I don't understand devs decisions about mechanics of this game. I am just 15h in game but I already starting to see that combat gets repetetive.

Originally I rolled with Rogue PC but when I found out that stealth is pretty useless and I can't get any backstabs because I get out of combat when combat starts (what the hell were they thinking?) I rolled to Cipher.

Now my combat looks like that: engagement - cast Mental Binding, Eder engages I cast Mind Blades and do rest of damage with my party. I can paralyze/root/blind every opponent which is just ridiculous. (I play on Hard).

Why there are no immunities/resistances? From what I just saw they got the casual way of working but I don't know really why.

Thats the fun in it to react in combat, switch spells, use another weapon etc.

Second problem is the engage system but this is a discussion for another topic also IE mod can turn it off.

I also don't understand the angle to just remove something that wasn't perfect in BG2/IWD.

Why do they have 01 system instead of getting a good mechanics from those game and make it even better in POE.

  9. You are not alone on this opinion, and Obsidian already knows that group stealth system sucks.

I also don't understand why they downgraded it from old IE or NWN games. I only saw somewhere that they didn't have time to implement it because it would generate 20-30 bugs. Such an excuse is kinda lame for me.

Anyway they said that it will be implemented in patch/expansion. I didn't see any confirmation which one would that be.

  10. I also made a rogue as my character and felt cheated after taking backstab talent only too see how useless it is with current stealth system.

I stopped playing at the moment because of it.

I would like to see somebody from Obsidian explains exactly where is the fix for this on their priority list.

I hope that it is not scheduled for the expansion because I do not want to wait for another couple of months to play...

  11. I think I don't have to say that I am a huge IE games fan. I ended BG2 like 7 times and for me it is one of the best games ever.

I watched while POE was being developed those 2.5y excited about the effect. And I was pretty happy what I saw.

I run to buy the game, went through manuals first seen the map, just wanted full immersion before I play.

I saw in the manual that there is no rogue companion so I decided to make one as a primary character.

When progressing further when I already hired Aloth and Eder I engaged one of the first fight when I just took backstab.

I didn't really realise why I cannot stay hidden in stealth in the corner when I was trying to lure monsters to Eder to tank it when I was going to backstab it.

It really make backstabing rogue just useless, because only thing I can do with it is to go stealth try to make a first hit as a backstab and then just die on the spot beacuse I had to keep the rest of my party far away due to low stealth.

I do not really understand how this passed through the develpment. Obsidian got so much experience that I cannot really get it.

I also think about stoping the game right now and wait for this to be fixed but I only saw that it may be implemented in patch/expansion.

If it is going to be in patch it is kinda fine with me tho even thinking about now playing now is making me angry. Another thing is that if Obsidian decides to implement it in expansion. For me it is kinda unacceptable.

I am a sad panda at the moment :(
