  1. Hiding from their fanbase is a very corporate weasel sort of thing to do, after going to great lengths to market themselves as not being that sort of game company. Of course that's marketing for you, it's rarely connected to reality. They hyped up the apparent value of their property in part by promoting it as getting a steam release, and then burned everyone for a quick payout and essentially went "Well, actually we didn't say the Steam release would be during the current US presidential administration lmao."
  2. I like how Obsidian is just hiding from the beep-storm this decision stirred up amongst its fans. /sarcasm
  3. Exclusives suck. They are anti-consumer. Steam doesn't do exclusives. Yeah but when a game company says their game is coming out for Steam and not GOG or elsewhere, no one will call jihad. Wait what? Isn't it an exclusive if it is exclusively sold on Steam? A lot of games only come out on Steam because the maker/publisher doesn't bother with another outlet. That's different than Steam saying "If you sell on our site you're forbidden from selling anyplace else."
  4. Yup, Epic Game store has The Outer Worlds listed now and Steam changed its release date to 2020. It's real. Go to hell. I'm out.
  5. Epic immediately deleted that tweet, nobody has any idea what's going on lmao
  6. This would be an easy story for the publisher to confirm/deny, but nobody has. It's one of those things that's only blown up because of silence on the part of the people who can answer the question. Well, and because there has been a lot of internet controversy about the Epic launcher being really blatant spyware, and games like Metro Exodus and Phoenix Point going Epic exclusive out of nowhere after advertising Steam access.
  7. Let's try and not re-enact some Gamergate garbage over a concerning story that has a decent chance of being BS anyway.
  8. *IF* this story is true, there is no way in hell I buy this game. And I've probably owned every Obsidian game made up to this point. The Epic game launcher is literally spyware that data mines your PC, the first autocomplete suggestion if you google "epic launcher" is "spyware" lmao.
  9. Highest DPS is rogue, but that requires you to use the sneak attack system, which means you have to pay attention to positioning (to flank enemies) and/or have your other party members apply debuffs that allow sneak attacks (of which there are about a hundred.) No reason a rogue can't use 2 handed weapons. Or ranged weapons, since sneak attacks work at range. Or 1x1 handed weapon for better accuracy & more criticals. There are really no restrictions to that sort of thing. For DPS with weapons you want might and dexterity. Might is damage and dexterity is attack speed basically. Heavier armor increases survivability but lowers DPS.
  10. Rogues are about sneak attacks. Stop trying to think of them as D&D backstabs, they're different. You get sneak attacks: At any range When attacking out of stealth, or the first second or two of combat if one of your other characters breaks stealth first Against any enemy that is engaged with someone else Against any enemy with practically any kind of debuff effect on them That's a long list! The backstab talent you can select works more like old-school D&D backstabbing but with the way stealth works in the game it's hard to use decently until you can turn invisible.
  11. Pretty sure it's working as intended, like it or not. The idea is that your rogue breaks party stealth with a sneak attack on the most valuable target.
  12. What company consistently produces bug-free releases though? Especially in RPGs where you have a ton of things interacting with each other? Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor would literally kill your operating system on release. It was a literal virus. I don't think anything is going to top that.
  13. Reviewers basically speed play the game to get the review out fast, it's easy for them to miss anything that doesn't outright crash the game to black.
  14. Yeah, even with no stealth this seems to stop you before combat with a good margin of safety to spare.
  15. Guns are nerfed pretty hard from the beta versions from what I understand. They're great for a rogue sneak attack "first strike" to open combat but are slow.
