You can roleplay using the Craft or Enchant buttons by only hitting them when visiting a relevant NPC or facility. You can even visit them, roleplay your request, then return after a suitably roleplayed length of time and hit the button for your reward.
How can it be an insult to any lover of RP when it encourages you to RP harder?

Yep, this was a bad oversight on someone's part. A lot of backers had non-ASCII characters in their names.
I could speculate on why this was overlooked, but that it was overlook simply… boggles.
Proofing. It's what's for dinner.

Well, my attempt (Path of the Damned, Trial of Iron, Expert) was short-lived (har!). I rolled my dwarf monk Rude E. Kegbiscuit knowing relatively nothing about the mechanics. I breezed through what I assumed were "tutorial"-class fights, then got myself in a pickle. I thought I was doing fine then BAM! Game over.
The game really should have a post-mortem and/or graveyard (roster of deceased characters) to fully support an ironman style. It'd be nice to review what done you in (the last X lines of the combat log could help here).
Now I'll just go back to my normal, iron-free, non-expert gameplay experience.

The recent minor snafu with the release of the Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition 1.4 patch (the initial patch download didn't actually have the patch ) on GOG led me to go ahead and get PoE on Steam as well, simply to be as current as I can.I just hope the GoG version is all patched up when it's released later today!
I love GOG and hopefully PoE on GOG is kept current in a timely fashion for those who chose to get their PoE there. I only got the base game on Steam; GOG will be the source of my extras.

Who says the "first run" has to last past the first combat?

I'm torn. I have minimal knowledge of the mechanics, setting, story, etc., so an ironman approach in Heart o… er, Path of the Damned difficulty would be crazy. Especially solo. And expert.
I mean, why not tick all the boxes? You only live once!

Release times should always be a minute after midnight in the Line Islands of Kiribati (UTC+14:00). That way, when the release date is given relative to that time, everyone else in the world feels like they're getting the game earlier. Two days earlier for those fortunates in Hawaii!
Perception is everything!

"Project Eternity" sounds more like a science fiction game. In fact, "Project" (the noun, not the verb) itself sounds anathema to a classic fantasy RPG.
As a code name, "Project Eternity" was perfect. Now it can be reused for some madman's ambition to achieve immortality for all. Or a band name.

I've managed to avoid spoiling myself on this game to keep my anticipation in check; tonight I will lull myself to sleep (or just ramp up my restlessness) watching Sensuki's Beginner's Guide videos in full (I've already rocketed around the first part and picked out some bits in the second and third parts).
These are essentially introducing me to the game in action without all the spoily bits. I'd say they sold me on the game but I only found the videos after forking over the moneys. They're more reassuring me that my faith in Obsidian was well-placed.
Plus, I'll hopefully emerge slightly more clueful on the mechanics of PoE's game system. Other than these videos and skimming the occasional "first impressions" page and whatever other threads my forum-rummaging lead me to explore, I really have managed to keep myself in the dark.
For my first bumbling playthrough I plan on trying a dwarf monk.
Thanks again for these videos!

Can I refer to the protagonist as my Avatar? If I call him/her my PC will Mac users convulse? What if I call her/him my Mac?
When I'm rerolling my gnome, can I say I'm just shooting for a better THAC0?

Crafting system, a shame to any RPG lover ?

It's also optional. Those buttons need ne'er be clicked.
Does the option to restrict Stash access to certain areas also govern access to the Craft/Enchant systems? Might be useful for those who want selective immersion without going whole-hog Expert Mode. I'm on the fence myself. I want to see my AoE circles.
