Obsidian is one of the few companies left still willing to make old school RPGs, both 'SJW' and anti-SJW sides are now detracting from this goal. I hope you all realize what you're doing. EA is probably laughing their asses off. Good job.
No. This would be a complete non-issue if the bigots hadn't thrown a fit.
Go read the replies to the other thread. Someone actually vowed to undermine everything Obsidian ever does. The reaction is completely, hilariously, out of proportion.
-
You're either dishonest or ignorant.
-
this needs to continue as it was an important discussion on the merits of censorship
No. It's a bunch of anti-SJ idiots throwing a fit, as usual. Anyone who thinks this has anything to do with censorship is an ignorant tool.
Obs did the right thing.

Awesome! :D
Now I just have to convince my employer that I'm not needed the rest of the day.
-
I, too, would be offended by Obsidian's evil, if I believed you can predict how several hundred thousand PCs would respond to your software, and that you totally know how many bugs your software has before you ship it, and if I believed non-PC software doesn't come with critical bugs.
The major bugs that people are complaining about have nothing to do with the hardware though, so that excuse seems a bit disingenuous.

Or that someone wants to try melee caster builds? (Which require use of buff spells every encounter, and the reason I'm trying to make/get this mod.)
Like he said, it's not about difficulty it's about tedium. Hard was a joke btw.
Have you tried asking Sensuki like Gfted1 suggested on the very first page of this thread?
-
I'm fine with the difficulty on hard. The low camp limit adds tedium, not difficulty, since you can always go to an inn from anywhere. Given that design decision, I don't see the logic in the low cap.
If you have to go to an inn often enough that it becomes tedious perhaps you should consider the possibility that 'Hard' is too... hard for you.

I find auto-attacking for most of the game the very definition of tedious. T1/2 spells should unlock per-encounter earlier than 9/11 respectively.
At that point the camping issue is not a problem for me then.
Ive beat the game on PoTD btw, so this isn't a difficulty issue...rather a "fun" issue.
Ciphers and chanters were made for you. Is there any reason you insist on using a class you don't think is fun?

Right, I get that I'm going to have the option, but I can ignore options with minimal effort. If I'm trying to play a weakling I'm not going to suddenly get up and throw people around out of choice. The choice element is what I've been asking about and no one has actually given me a helpful answer.
I decided to play it anyway and have yet to encounter anything that could negate my role-play choice.
Constraining one's own experience beyond what is enforced by the game seems to be a foreign concept to some people.
As far as I know, you won't have any problems with playing your physically weak, but "mighty" character.
-
Meh, all this does is making a PC wizard boring to play. And after their major nerf next patch, I won't even consider playing one w/out a unlimited camp mod.
What nerf?
Maybe they are referring to the Slicken spell "balance" in the next patch?
Probably, though that's a fix, not a nerf. The spell is currently broken.

Fun combat and enchantment ingredients has so far been plenty incentive for me to kill monsters.
As I predicted beforehand the XP rewards, or lack thereof, have been a complete non-issue. I simply don't think about it.
I actually still want the option to turn off XP notifications in the log.

Hi everyone,
I am really pissed off by one setting of PoE.
No EXP from killing??
Why? Why you have to do this? There are so many ways to prevent over-levelling...................
Killing mobs is so fun and should definitely be credited.
Just want to know how many people agree with me.
A patch plz.
If it is so fun, then why do you need to be rewarded for it?

*grumbles* Why would they put an outdated manual up on Steam?
-
From the manual:
p. 4 - Intellect: A character’s logic and reasoning capabilities as well as their tactical instincts. Affects the size of all Area of Effects and the Will and Deflection defenses.
p. 15 - Deflection is used to resist most weapons and the natural attacks of monsters. It is defi ned primarily by the character’s class and level. No attributes affect Deflection.
Just curious.

I don't appreciate how all females have significantly more symmetrical faces and are younger.
Male disposability and ugly misandry manifesting itself again.
Too obvious. 1/10

From my initial look they seem to all share the same talents. Correct me if I'm wrong.
You're wrong. E.g. Cipher has a talent that increases the points gained from attacking.
That's not a new talent.
I know. BlueLion stated that there are no class-specific talents.

If they plan to give XP for locks and traps it should be expanded to all skills players can use. Otherwise people will all take Mechanics to maximize their XP gain. And it is not illogical that usage of other expert knowledge also gives you some bonus XP.
I'll be maxing out mechanics very early to get all that xp.
So if there's no lock-picking XP you'll be fine with leaving locked chests behind?
I don't believe you.

The main reason to complicate matters is gameplay: it can either be an unrewarding obstacle that I feel incentivized to avoid (like it is now), or something that I actually want to seek out because it's fun and rewarding and an active part of progression.
Do you need achievements too?
If XP is an essential part of the reward structure by design, then that tells me that the actual gameplay is lacking.

This game could have been made by the wishes (create similar IE game // mechanic, visual etc.) of investors, and it is us. Not even a little bit risking the success of the game. And now it's all a bit shaky.
Can someone explain to me from supporting this new xp system, what was wrong with the old system?
XP is a tool to control power progression of the player. If they can do that without kill XP then there's no reason to complicate matters.

All the FMV's have been changed in BG:EE, probably because of the resolution. The new ones are not nearly as well done though, so I'd recommend modding in the original files.
The ending with the statues has always been there, AFAIK.

I do not see the point of per-character inventory at all. There's no encumbrance and as far as I know there's no range limit on moving items between characters. Could just as well make a shared inventory.
-
There's almost no excuse for not using both hands. Almost. But I'm not going to go there.
There are going to be romances, right?

There's a historical context that you are either ignoring or is ignorant of.
But it doesn't matter, because even *if* you think the word applies this sh!tstorm still has absolutely nothing to do with censorship.
There are a number of people who will cry bloody murder if anyone so much as considers doing anything for the sake of social justice.
It's completely ridiculous.
