  1. PS:T's combat is a complete flush out, as all the semi-automatic isometric click and kill games are, but it has one redeeming quality: the spell animations are just plain AWESOME. In BL you actually have to use skill and be within range (melee/brawling). Neither can I. Ditto. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just what I was about to say Anyway, the point I was trying to make is, that if combat is at all important in an RPG, it comes in af the least important priority. Which is why Bloodlines is so goddamn great even though the combat might suck. Plus, the combat was more fun for the typical 1st-person shooterplayer, and that has made many of my friends, who has never played RPG before, play RPG. I think that Troja wanted the game to sell to more than just the typical RPG-guy.
  2. You're probably right, I am a fanboy. But I would be both blind and stupid if I didn't agree with you on the last part: There is too much combat in the last chapter of the game, but then again, I don't let that ruin the experience of the whole game for me. Anyways, there's too much combat in Torment to, and the second chapter of the game is outright boring, but that still doesn't keep the game from having the greatest story ever told on a computer, and some of the best character development. Bloodlines is like that, just not quite as good, which is why Torment takes first place.
  3. Actually...NOT. Troika made that totally unbelievably stupid mistake of thinking that they could pull both ToEE and Bloodlines off at the same time. All the tech-heads went into ToEE and all the creative minds into Bloodlines. Dum!! Combined it would have totally ruled... Sheesh. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've completed Bloodlines five times, and I've only run into 1 bug, which the patch dealt with nicely. Secondly, the combat is not bad. It is just different from ordinary roleplaying games. I'm one of the biggest Baldur's Gate fans out there, and I stille rate CRPG's like this: 1. Planescape: Torment 2. Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 3. Baldur's Gate 4. Fallout 5. KotOR I don't really care about technical mistakes or combat when I'm playing a CRPG, because it's about roleplaying. ToEE, NWN and games like that didn't offer 1% of that in their games.
  4. *Concurs*. And on the minigame part: You're right, there's no justification for Sith Soldiers being there, but the concept of that minigame was still fun
  5. Those jedi were only ubbish cos the ****s at LA decided to make all the jedi rubbish apart from Windu, Yoda and Kenobi. At least Supermesiter Kit Fisto put up some fight, as well as Ki-Adi-Mundi. P.S. I read somewhere that Plo Koon survives the Great Jedi Purge by becoming a BH-anyone else ever seen this-I think I saw it on wiki. As for the poll, Maul has to be best. Sidious is a one-trick waonder (ZAP!), Vadercudnt kill kenobi until he cought Alzheimers and only caused the GJP wiv a squad of clones behind him, Dooku is hardly that great, and Malak wudve been down easy without the Captive Jedi and Star Forge, while Darth Maul held of two jedi easy and only got killed by a stupid canonial, 'heroes HAVE to win the day' slice by obi-wan. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maul got his ass kicked by a padawan with a single hilt. End of story. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maul the mightly Sith Lord was OWNED by a Padawan. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You could put it that way too I guess It all comes down to the same: Just because Darth Maul looked cool fighting doesn't mean he beats every Sith Lord in existance.
  6. If I see it in the bargin bin for $10 I will probabl pick it up but I don't pirate games. Not any more. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ToEE is one of the worst games I've ever played, and Bloodlines one of the best. Just goes to show that developers can learn from their mistakes. Unless of course Atari is the publisher

  8. Exactly. Sometimes one is the best solution, sometimes the other. A turnbased Bloodlines would've sucked, while a realtime Final Fantasy wouldn't have been fun. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Someones not played FFXII <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's still turn-based is it not? Just a bit different. I would have loved Bloodlines if it was turn-based also... I'm playing it right now, and the combat is just so lame. Feels like i'm playing GTA or some other generic hack and slash title. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bloodlines was an attempt at connecting heavy roleplaying with a 1st/3rd person shooter game. I think the attempt was handled quite good. Especially the fact that it the combat a little quicker, so the game didn't become all about how good your character was at fighting.
  9. Also, with speed, you can run around a while while her lightsabers follow you, then run up to her for a clean hit
  10. And you need to find master Vrook if you haven't yet. He's somewhere in Dantooine. Notify if you need further directions
  11. She isn't there because no one (hopefully) would vote her over some of the listed. That's my guess anyway
  12. Now it's 0.4f2!! It's going good, I think. And that turret sequence is really annoying, yes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why d'you think that? I always liked those little mini-games.
  13. you mean like, real-time with pause? which, not coincidentally, nearly 90% of all rpgs are actually implemented with... ahem. taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Think he means like real-time while, in the case of AD&D, still maintaining things like initiative rolls. Baldur's Gate and other games have that so...
  14. Exactly. Sometimes one is the best solution, sometimes the other. A turnbased Bloodlines would've sucked, while a realtime Final Fantasy wouldn't have been fun. In the case of KotOR, I think both would work excellent, provided they were handled right. And it was.
  15. MCFLURRY! No penalty, just pure lightsaber fury That sounded like a slogan...
  16. Just a sidenote: Your homepage still links to the closed thread
  17. "On-topic whining" :D GOT to remember that.
  18. "The man be coming himself to check out 'dis ride" :D
  19. I think that goes under the category: "You know you've played to much KotOR and has become violently insane when..."
  20. *head perks up* Hmm? a messenger of bad news? STONE HIM! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah kill him! Lynch him! Anyways, as said before, it's done when it's done. Rather wait till 2007 than having it in 2006 being as uncomplete as the game itself was. (This IS not a bashing of Lucas Arts, I LOVED KotORII and I respect the people of Obsidian. All of them. And the people of Bioware. And a couple of those from Lucas Arts ) Does that make me free from eternal judgement from the moderators?
  21. Just remembered this old thing: http://forums.spellholdstudios.net/index.php?showtopic=14841 Try adding your own, we got some pretty funny ones last time methinks
