  1. It is true. Choose to stay on Yuthura's side and poison the Academy master. Afterwhich you will emerge triumphant and Yuthura will fight you. Spare her life and she will realize that even with her DS powers the LS can still triumph. Naturally, you have to be LS. If Dantooine hasnt been destroyed by then you can even visit her at the Jedi Academy.
  2. Sorry, I meant that the apparent sex of the character could be made to be difficult to determine, eg using a voice synthesizer, masks etc. Or even have him speak into the character's mind. As the the second query, something akin to the conversation with Atton on Peragus in K2? I would rather myself play Revan, but that seems to be sadly impossible, not because it would be impossible to make such a game, but because the developers would most probably not consider such a thing.
  3. I was thinking of a possible role for Revan (or the exile) that would fit in with most prerequisites of what people think would make a decent KOTOR 3. Have KOTOR III start with a new character maybe even a smuggler-turned-Jedi like Kyle Katarn, but have Revan (or the exile) return in the capacity of a mentor, not unlike Kreia, hooded and mysterious. He would then have an excuse for hiding his powers (like Kreia), and he would then take on an educatory role whose teachings vary according to whether he was LS or DS as the player chose. If possible the sex of the mentor could be made vague, and could be used later as an explanation of hiding the mentor's true identity. As such he could use a Malak-esque voice apparatus and other devices. This could provide the Big Twist in the KOTOR 3 storyline, while giving Revan (or the exile) a big role in the storyline and eliminating the problem of his overpowered-ness until late in the game. Presumably, Revan (or the exile) would want to return back to the Republic to warn them about the True Sith (if they were LS.) I can't think of a DS explanation though. Of course, such a thing would be difficult to execute properly, but thats another point.
  4. Terentateks are varelse.
  5. One of the best ideas I have heard to date on how to fix this problem. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have to disagree. Such an approach would irritate most fans of the game, as evidenced by the existence of threads such as these. Doing this would be avoiding the problem. Kotor2's story is not crappy; it has a darker, more gothic, post-apocaplyptic atmosphere that may not fit in with the Star Wars theme, but is nevertheless deeper than kotor1's. There are several games out there which are more complex than a kotor3 that includes Revan and the Exile as major players. Its not treading on new ground; its a matter of how much time LA and kotor3's developer is willing to spend.
  6. To mantain the climatic tnesion kotor3 must not start off later than a few moths after the exile's heading off towards the UR. Of course, there are also the romances to note.
  7. On a sidenote, what does male Revan say in K1 during combat? I know female Revan does.
  8. ok so what about the guys that play DS (i am one of them)?? You're telling them that no matter what they do, their choices have no effect in the storyline because the good guys must always win! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, the basis for setting Revan as LS would be to simplify matters for the developers. If the developers had the ability and time to actually pull off a game where Revan's alignment and sex could be completely determined by the player, (especially when Revan coming back is a definite requirement) and still make it a stunning game, then I will not complain. Why LS? Firstly, there is the issue of redemption which prevails in the SW Universe. Additionally, the LS story makes more sense. Considering from a DS pov Revan let the Sith turn on each other and let the Star Forge, his most powerful weapon, degenerate. That is not the hallmark of strategic thinking. Revan wanted to prepare fo an invasion by the true sith. It makes more sense for Revan to first secure the Sith empire before gallivanting off to the UR. And explaining this in K3 would require some contriving of the storyline. The LS storyline also has the added benefit of the romance options.
  9. Did you mean to say that bold passage? or was it a typo? I could deal with the fact that the PC's alignment is predetermined as LS, but only because I am LS all the way when I play the games and I honestly have no real desire to play DS :D However, I feel that BOTH alignment and gender are equally important, and as far as im concerned it has nothing to do with the moral principles of our society. Gender is important because I think one of the best parts about these games is that does an excellent job of catering properly for both male and female gamers, instead of forcing you to play as male character. Force alignment is important primarily for continuity... for -most- of us it has very little to do with society or our moral values, but instead that we become immersed in the game (to an extent), and its a truly great thing to be able to carry on from what you had done in the previous games. Some people prefer DS and will want to continue along that path... but that doesn't mean they are all maniacal, power hungry tyrants in real life Maybe the good things about having choice in alignment can still be introduced even if the PC characters initial alignment is predetermined... but I still think it would be better to attempt to leave both gender and alignment open to selection by the player. - Dan <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I actually meant that Revan's gender should be determined by the player.
  10. Revan's gender should not be set. However, to simplify things for prospective designers Revan's alignment should be set to LS. This would, I believe, irritate far less people. I think..
  11. Three months after the exile has left to find Revan. A random Jedi character with his personal backstory wanders the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. He is summoned to the reconvened Council and is given a mission: to find Revan. Bastila and several others, including the old characters from 1 and 2, have already set off (without the Council's permission); the reinforcements that Kreia has decreed must be sent to help Revan. I would prefer setting Revan as an LS character. The LS story just makes more sense than the DS ending. Besides, it is supposed to be canon. Revan's gender can be determined by the player. Facial features can be determined using a series of conversation options that describe various features. The search for Revan should be the "free planet" phase of K3, roving various Outer Rim worlds searching for clues on Revan's whereabouts. For NPCs you get two to three new characters. Upon piecing together a navigation route you venture off into the Unknown regions. At this point your character would be somewhere around lvl 20. You can then find Revan, who has found Bastila and the team, and join up with him or kill him, (depending on your alignment). You can then attempt to stop them, with your now supercharged team or lvl 20+sers (if you are dark, you get force powers?). At this point you face off with the scions of the True Sith as they begin their invasion and start the Second Sith War. After much bloodshed you accomplish an overall strategic victory. You can then choose either to take the helm of (true) sith lordship, for that is how Sith Lords are made, or, of course, reject the dark path. The parameters of such a scenario are still vague. K3 will then end with romance subplot resolved, with Revan marrying Bastila or Carth, if male or female respectively. I dont see Admiral Carth risking his own butt in the Unknown Regions unless he has a large fleet at his command. So he will only make an appearance near the end, at a climatic ROTSesque battle scene.
  12. I was hoping for a dev to highlight what was intended canon.
  13. I wonder what Obsidian thinks of this project. Have the developers actually commented here on it?
  14. Of course, gender differentials must factor in as well. I am all for setting Revan as a definite LS character however. On a sidenote, does anybody know what male Revan's combat lines are in kotor1?
  15. Revan should be set as an LS character. Gender does not matter. I am of the opinion that alignment is a much less sensitive issue with gamers, unless moral principles in today's society are more skewed than I thought.
