We probably saw the same clip, I think it was all over the place back then. And yeah, if that isn't evidence of abuse of power I dunno what is. But seriously, I would be a terrible cop. You have to suck up every insult and physical gesture known to mankind and just look the other way and do nothing more about it. In Denmark, the attitude seems to be changing, zero tolerance kicks in all over the place. Wouldn't we get pissed too if we were the ones wearing the badge? (not to say that you should shoot people who is throwing stones, lol. That's not what I'm trying to say)

I'm not sure what you base that on, but there sure was a lunatic shooting a stone-hurling demonstrant in the Gothenburg riots of 2001. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I just read it in one of the major Danish newspapers, they compared the use of firearms from all the Scandinavian nations. I do remember those shootings though, I even saw some footage where the police shot a guy in the back.

Well our Finnish brothers have been suspiciously silent in this flame fest, but I'll see if I can be bothered with it later. However the CIA World Factbook got all the details and stats, if that's what you're looking for.

H.C. Andersen was Danish, Niels Bohr was Danish. I'm thankful we don't have all the outrageous amounts of empty land as you have, I mean, a backwood Swede such as yourself is a perfect example of why that isn't a good thing.

Sorta like you joining in on the winning side of the Napoleon Wars to get British support for your claims on Norway, I reckon. Oh indeed, he was, but my point was not about Vasa, it was about Stockholm capitulating and our King puking his guts out after days of celebration in your royal palace. And you were a worthy advesary, however you simply never made it into Copenhagen to claim the real spoils. Tsk tsk. Some of the wars, others lost or in a state of stalemate. Like the Scanian, we couldn't recapure the land, but we eliminated your fleet so much so that it never really posed a serious threat again. Also, when Scania one days gains its independence, you'll have no more spoils left.

Denmark, quite obviously. And dream all you want, the Storm of Copenhagen was a disaster, we even have a street named after your bevildered troops who had gotten themselves lost, and who were eventually put down by city folks and dutch sailors. Also, selective history telling is not a good trait, Sten Sture was mortally wounded and Stockholm eventually capitulated to Christian II in 1520. He was crowned Hereditary King and celebrated in Stockholm Castle, if was after this event that the gates were closed and Christian, advised by a Bishop, executed some one hundred nobles. (however Vasa led a successful rebellion three years later) Also Niels Juel, possibly the greatest naval commander in Scandinavian history, saved the monarchy by uttlery crushing the Swedish fleet in the Scandian War, killing some 3000 while only suffering around 100 losses. In the attempt to recapture Scania, however, we didn't succeed, but the Swedes were incapable of crossing over into Denmark with their fleet lost.

Meh, you might have started it, but I've had this discussion with him before. He's just whiny about the fact that even when they took over the status of great power in the north, they never managed to conquer us. Danes can thank their superior naval traditions for that btw, and help from various European nations who didn't like the Swedes either.

They make overprised cars, that's about it. Oh and I think poor Schmartsie here is suffering from the all too known Stockholm Bloodbath syndrome, from when King Christian II had a rebellion put down and some 100 nobles executed, back when Denmark owned Sweden. (they call him "The Tyrant" now, unsurprisingly we don't). However I must say that you need to read up on your history, and I'm not just talking about nationalistic Swedish litterature here, around half of the northern wars led to more or less unconclusive truces. The Kingdom did indeed lose its status as a great power in the north, but then again, so did yours not so long afterwards. The only difference between us is that some of you are still stuck with the dellusion of great power status. And please, get down from your over the top high horse, I know quite a lot of Danes obviously, and very... VERY few of them understand a word of your sing-songy language, myself included. I can understand a little Scanian, but they're almost more Danish than Swedish after all. Final Edit: FYI, I live just outside the Capital of Denmark and Scania, in an area that despite your oh so many successes you've never managed to conquer, not even once. You can't exactly say the same thing about Stockholm and its surroundings now can you?
