  1. Me too. 12 hours in, 100 years of game play. I am the most powerful king in Spain, but not the king OF Spain.... yet. This game is extremely detailed. Much more than Imperator even. Makes Stellaris look like Master of Orion
  2. OK, no that is a cool story! Let us know how it ends. Now I'm curious.
  3. Playing Crusader Kings 3 since 9 PM last night. Really like this game. But... can't stay awake
  4. Now reading: You'd think a book about Viking would be interesting. You'd be wrong. So far it's as dry as a popcorn fart.
  5. You are overthinking it. Both Washington & Lee led an armed rebellion against "the state" of their day. No judgments are made on why or whether it was justified or anything. Merely that it happened.
  6. Too funny not to share!
  7. I suspect the comments reported in the Atlantic are not exactly true. Not that Trump does not think that way. I could certainly see him thinking that. However while he is a lot of bad things, stupid is not one of them. It seems to me he would have more sense than to vocalize something like that. It doesn’t matter to me. My opinion of him is not going to get any lower. But here’s the thing. No matter how despicable Donald Trump is that does not make Joe Biden better. The truth is neither of them deserve our vote. And neither of them is getting mine.
  8. I finished my greenhouse. Working on the irrigation system.
  9. In fact I’m pretty sure it has been done! LOL!
  10. Actually it’s completely a good analogy because social media is also not a business. Not from the perspective of the end user anyway. You. How much do you pay to access Facebook? Twitter? The obsidian way off topic forum? These are services you can use for free with the permission of the owners of those services. We all get to post here because Obsidian will let us swim in their pool. Up to this point I have been arguing from a philosophical rather than a legal standpoint. But this is where the legal stuff starts to come in. I assume you were paying attention to what Gromnir said? If Fio or any other mod kicks me off this board for something I said, or just because they don’t like my avatar it doesn’t matter, they have not committed a crime when they did it. They have also not done injury to me by doing it. If they haven’t breached a contract with me, and they haven’t harmed me physically or financially there is no remedy the government can provide. Unless it suddenly gives itself new powers. You do NOT want that! And it is not a monopoly. If I got kicked off Facebook and Twitter it doesn’t mean I’m kicked off LinkedIn or my space or any of the others out there.. if I got kicked off the obsidian form I can still post on bio wear or paradox. Or anywhere else for that matter. Do you see the point here? I’m afraid it cannot be broken down much more than this.
  11. Suppose you live in this big neighborhood. And your house is the only one that has a pool. You built the pool. It’s your pool it’s in your yard. And because it’s the only one all the kids in the neighborhood come over to swim with your kids. And you let them. You give them permission to swim in the pool you built. Now suppose one of the kids just getting out of line. Suppose That kid is being mean to your kid. Or saying things you don’t like. So you tell the kid you have to go home. Do you really want the government coming to you and saying no you must let this child swim in your pool in your yard? It is your pool. Do you see where I’m going with this?
  12. True. The 20mm alone would have left almost nothing behind. Let alone the rockets
  13. Jennifer Gray & C Thomas Howell might disagree!
  14. Anti trust laws do NOT apply to Social Media. Not even close.
  15. I watched the last four episodes of the man in the high castle last night. I didn’t love the ending but it certainly wasn’t terrible. They really missed an opportunity to explore a concept that I found very compelling. Despite his mastery of the system he was in and his climb to the pinnacle of that system John Smith hated the NAZIs. But when he could finally cast them off , when he could stop it all he didn’t know how. That has been building up the entire show and in the final episode we only got two scenes to explore it. All in all though that was 40 hours well spent in my opinion
  16. In Act of Heresy, N.R.A.’s Former No. 2 Calls for Gun Control What a hot mess the NRA is now. Oh well. Trust no one, believe in no one, expect nothing.
  17. That would be an extremely arbitrary and subjective process. You don't want government activity that could be called either of those terms. Government should (must) have clear lines within which it acts. This far and no farther. Like Gromnir said about the courts, it's not there to right wrongs and free the oppressed. It's there to apply laws and mediate contracts. Government agencies also have a job to do and that is not to right wrongs nor free the oppressed. And it certainly is not to force private entities to allow Mr. X to access their private servers. You generally favor the "conservative" position that government intrusion should be limited. But you undermine your own argument when you take a position like this.
  18. There is no "crime" being committed here. Social Media can cut anyone off for any reason or none. It's not "free speech". It's a server they own and everyone uses at their pleasure. In this case you care asking the govt sto step in and tell them they must let Mr. X use their server no matter what. That is REALLY intrusive don't you think?
  19. That would never fly because the user has no contractual relationship with Facebook or Twitter. You really can't sue them for denying access to a service you didn't pay for. A service you really have no "right" to other than at their pleasure.
  20. So what is the solution? Have the government step in and stop them from doing that? That would NOT be a small government conservative position you realize.
  21. U.S. Debt Is Set to Exceed Size of the Economy for Year, a First Since World War II Tick tock tick tock tick..... tock.... BOOM Biden is promising to spend even MORE. Can someone please explain to me how this is the "most important election in history" again when no matter who wins the dollars in your pockets and bank accounts might soon be worth less than the paper they are printed on? Hey, I'm prepared. How are you guys doin'?
  22. When one party holds all the cards they can get into terrible mischief. Boondoggle health insurance schemes, walls out in the desert, etc. When power is divided they make a public show of hating and sniping at each other and not much happens.
