  1. I was pretty young when BG and BG2 came out. Mostly my memories of BG revolve around looking at the art and dying on repeat before my older sibling would kick me out of their room. However I did pick it up and play it recently. You know what BG has that I would love to see in this game? Attack animations! My monk in BG punched and kicked his little heart out. My monk in PoE only knows one fighting move... I'm kind of sad for him. Even if he uses his special abilities... He only does the single move. I bet he gets made fun of in monk school.
  2. I think at times people get "beta" and "early release" mixed up. Don't get me wrong it is easy to do. Now days a lot of companies will give you beta access as a marketing ploy, when the truth is the game is just about done. That is not the case with PoE. It is still very raw and you know what... that's ok. I know there are issues, combat is a disaster and the UI is a mess. If you test drove a car with a working engine but nothing else, you would probably be pretty unhappy with the experience. You for sure wouldn't want to take that car on a road trip or drive it to work everyday. That's what is going on here. The car runs... it just doesn't do anything else. Let them add the seats, the AC, the brakes, heck even the cup holders before we place judgment.
  3. Oh High and Mighty Devs, I've been having the same experience as Grand_Commander13 and probably a good percentage of the beta players. Sometimes a little strategy goes a long way and makes a pull easy. Other times I attack as normal, Monk and Fighter up front and we die with in a few seconds. I don't really understand the reasons. I have probably died twenty times in the spider cave. I am convinced it must be a bug. My party attacks, My monks stamina runs out in a second, He dies within a half a second, instantly I get the "Your party has died" message. Right now I'm really having trouble with combat. Either I face roll a mob without grasping why. Or, I die with in seconds of the initial pull, without knowing why. If I had to encourage you guys to really focus on "fixing" one thing, its the combat. Right now its a total coin flip, 50/50. I find myself just as likely to die to a beetle as an ogre. I also have no idea what is happening. I've tried incorporating more pauses and it just feels clunky like the pacing is wrong. I've tried slow mode and it feels laborious. I support you guys and believe you're going to make a great game. Its just that right now the beta isn't very fun because I cant really play it. Ps.(Portraits during conversations would be sweet too) Thanks Devs,
  4. My Monk seems to just die on repeat. I'm like "let's go kill some spiders BB team"! ... Dead. I'm even playing on easy... Heh, I must be doing it wrong. Sometimes I can't really tell if I'm using my abilities or not. Maybe it's just game mechanics that I'm not used to. When the old infinity engine games came out I was pretty young. I was completely sucked into the fantasy aspect of the games but spent most of my time lost or dead. Now I'm older and I don't get lost... Still dead tho. A fifty percent improvement isn't bad.
  5. Just a heads up. You can import your own portraits. Just find the pillars of eternity file where they keep them, crop your photos to match the default ones. (You may have to name them the same way PoE does) that's what I did and it worked great. I'm using my own custom portraits (small and large) and loving it. I'm on my phone and I don't remember the exact file name, but if you search around you can find it easy enough. Hope that helps.
