I've never found a movie to be scary. Even the 'good' older ones. There are some horror movies that are decent movies. But I can't say I've ever been 'scared' by a movie. Not sure why that is, but I guess it's why horror movies don't really hold any appeal to me anymore. I think the closest I've ever come to being scared by a movie was the Exorcist. Great flick, but still not truly 'scary' imo. Strange thing is that just about every other emotion that movies try to pull out of their viewers, I've felt in some movie or other. Sadness, joy, intrigue, confusion, excitement, amazement, you name it. Just, never fear.

Hey! Some of us need penile extensions. There's nothing wrong with that! That's what my girlfriend says anyway.

I wouldn't mind them being a BIT bigger, but that's probably just because mine is a shrunk-down pic that can be a BIT hard to recognize at this size. I do agree that forums which allow really big ones just get cluttered and annoying tho. Those are the foums in which I usually turn avatars off.

WHY THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CALLED THE WWoT...
Xindell replied to Sargallath Abraxium's topic in Way Off-Topic
Actually... I thought it was kinda funny. If only I was still prepubescent. Would have my whole life ahead of me still. -

Well, I made my name up in, I guess, '96, for use in a Star Wars sim. Through sims that I've run, or participated in between '96 and 2000, I've had many different incarnations of Xindell. Drevel Xindell, Kedrin Xindell, Emperor Xindell, Kayla Xindell (yes, female...) Xindell has just become what I am known as by anyone who knows me online. I use it for pretty much everything. Forums, email, etc. The avatar is a shrunken down version of a picture of me actually. An artist friend took a picture of me in a black cloak on a digital camera, then played with it in some graphical editor to make it look like I was shooting lightning out of my hands (Emperor Xindell in a Star Wars sim... think about it ). Edit: Just realized, I'm member #100. Nice round number. kewl.

What Is Up With The Paid Subscriptions?
Xindell replied to Shadowstrider's topic in Obsidian General
I had wondered about this too. But, if it was just feature of the board, not something they actually intend to use, then couldn't they hide or remove that link? Seems odd they'd just leave it there for no rason. -
I think he prefers to go by "Senior Citizen Brown."

*shrugs* It is what it is. No matter what you do, you'll always have to deal with people that rub you the wrong way. It's the way of life. Time to drop it, move on, and make sure I don't let myself get sucked in again. Life's too short. :D

I have to agree with Teatime. I do find what Grommy's saying difficult to understand sometimes. I guess I've grown up my whole life hearing English spoken a certain way, and when I hear (or in this case, see) someone butchering the language, I have to really think about what that person is trying to say. It's been a while since I've been on a board that he's also on, but I'm quickly relearning to just ignore him as well. Easier that way.
-
Unlikely that I'll go back into pure lurker mode. Not unless real life gets in the way too much. When I said lesson re-learned, I simply meant that I now remember why I tended to avoid getting directly involved in forum conversations that Grommy was playing a part of. And I now remember why I tended to never respond directly to things he posted. That's all.
-
Oh I know, I'm just irritated at myself for even wasting my time responding to his initial comment. I don't hate the guy, I could care less about him, or anyone else I don't personally know. But I've been around, in a very limited posting capacity and as a big time lurker, in enough forums that Grommy posts to to know what to expect from him. *shrugs* Lesson re-learned.

*sigh* Somehow I knew I should've just not responded. I think every single person who read what I was saying understood the point I was making, you included. It's not a difficult thing really. Actually, I NEVER said that the rules clearly distinguish between the two, so don't put those words in my mouth. I was just pointing out that I think there's a difference, and I think that difference is what they meant. Regardless, think what you will. The only point I was making, right from the get go, is that I don't see how these rules are 'too restrictive' as many have implied. And since others had commented about the portion which said don't argue with a mod in a public forum could go so far as meaning never disagree with anything they said, I simply pointed out that I suspect people are taking that way overboard. I do believe there is a well known suggestive difference between argue and debate, and I believe that what they meant in the rules is that they don't want people openly arguing with the mods. But I'm not going to sit here and debate how black, white, or grey the difference is. It's just not that big of a deal.

What I'm referring to, and I suspect what Obsidian is referring to in their rules, is the connotation that comes with the words argue, as opposed to debate. When you hear the word argue, the tendancy is to picture a pointless shouting match between two people which is much more aggressive than constructive. While a debate is seen as more of a respectful exchange of ideas. The impression I got from their posted rules is that they won't tolerate people mouthing off to devs and mods on these boards. But if a polite debate os going on on the boards, and a mod throws in his/her opinion, I don't suspect that immediately means the debate is over and no one is allowed to disagree. Now, before you start trolling me, I completely understand that by strict definition, there is certainly little to no difference between a debate and an arguement. But the connotation behind the term is very relavant, and I believe it's the reason they used the word argue, rather than disagree with, debate, etc.

Having just gotten on these boards, and just read the rules, I don't really see why everyone is so worried. The rules don't seem terribly 'draconic' to me. I think you guys are really taking them a bit more harshly than they are intended. There's a big difference between 'arguing' with someone, and 'debating' with them. I suspect there's going to be no problem with having disagreements about things with devs or mods. And I find it extremely hard to believe that Obsidian really will give folks a hard time for honest, polite debate. However, the rule was put there to make it clear that if you have some kind of issue, or just want to argue, you need to keep it off the boards and keep it in private. Why is that so hard for everyone to understand? Regardless, I don't think the rules are bad, overly strict, or anything else. To each their own tho.
