Neverwinter Nights 2 Community Update

January 11, 2008

 

Quick update today as things are pretty busy with 1.12 getting underway...

 

3d Model Contest

Just a quick update on the model contest. We received a lot of great entries. Unfortunately, many of those entries also came with the accusation of plagiarism. That means the entries have to be reviewed for authenticity, unfortunately this is proving difficult. I am now planning to announce the winners in February to give us time to review all the entries.

 

 

1.12 Patch News

The patch is technically in a pre-production phase right now. We may need to do some work to prepare for Ossian's Mysteries of Westgate Adventure Pack and that is delaying the shift into full production phase. In the meantime, some progress has been made.

 

1.12 Patch Goals (Jan. 11, 2008)

Items in green have passed the first phase of testing.

  • Eliminate the errors caused by transitioning with familiars summoned.
  • Fix the issue where the Use Magic Device skill takes priority over caster levels.
  • Allow Warlocks to be able to take crafting feats.
  • Eliminate area transition crashes.
  • Fix the issue where swapping spells on level-up makes characters invalid. (Fixed as of 1/11).
  • Update the Dedicated Server Creator to install NX1 files and model directories.
  • Provide more detail in the Multiplayer "missing file" error message.
  • Eliminate the item identification price discrepancies between the toolset and the price displayed in-game. (Fixed as of 1/11).
  • Fix 75 spells.
  • Make appropriate spells able to be scribed to a scroll.
  • Allow Armorrulestats.2da, and other files, to be readable from hak pack in-game.
  • Implement stealth animations for playable races. (Moved to a later Patch).
  • Fix issues with Invisibility.
  • Bind the player list to the P key.
  • Implement the UI feature to change portraits in-game.(Implemented as of 1/11).
  • Implement multi-server portal support.
  • Increase the dedicated server player limit to 120. (Fixed as of 1/11 - Player limit will be 96).
  • Implement the ability to change the loot bag appearance. (Moved to a later patch).
  • Natural AC is not working properly (Added to patch).
  • Losing points in UMD can cause items to be destroyed (Added to patch).
  • Spellcasting classes not adding together in regards to prerequisites for feats and epic spells (Added to the patch).

 

As I said, this update would be short. I plan to do another update next week with a bit more info and our regular community works section.

I'm actually amzed how little the fluctuation is, given that some urgent fixes had to be added to the list.

To be honest, you lost me with pre-preproduction, full production, 2DAs to prepare for MooW ( ;D ) and items already tested. I mean, what shall we think about the items in the list that aren't greenlit ? Are they developed, but not yet tested ?

 

Other than that, too bad for stealth, and YAY for portaling.

 

And of course, I hope this contest thing will be cleared. Too bad for you these plagiarism accusals delayed it.

The items that aren't in green have not made it to testing yet, which means they are still in development or in the queue to go into development.

There is 25 entries in the Custom models Contest and you said that "many of those entries also came with the accusation of plagiarism", I think that you must say which entries are accused and by who.

 

This type of charge without brought proof throws the opprobrium on all the designers, the slightest thing would be that the organizers of the contest give the name of the indicters and the incriminated models or that the indicters have the courage to pronounce their charges in front of all (we can always dream).

 

So, the accused persons could defend themselves from indicters, even to obtain repair of some defamation.

No. I am not going to publish all of that. There has been enough drama already and I am not going to add any more to that. There is no need to embarrass the accuser nor the accused.

If I was to say that a few PWs out there fixed this with creative scripting, would Obsidian care to see the lines? I can understand the wish to fix things by coming at them with a "Fresh Outlook", but the opportunity to have somthing fixed with only spending minimal time might also be of value.

Rob, I agree with you. Publishing will just divert attention from the work.

 

Really looking forward to the winner on this contest. I'll bet the judging will be VERY difficult as there are prolly a lot of good entries.

Can we have the liste of spell fix ?

 

The bug of flag extention who make error in standalone server : " Install shadow of undertide " it is resolved ? Maybe whith : Update the Dedicated Server Creator to install NX1 files and model directories.

 

 

It is possible to add in properties of items a bottom to set Custom price and the SetCustomPrice and GetCustomPrice ?

 

Increase the dedicated server player limit to 120 ??? taht must say, that multiplayer is better manage ?
