[MAC] On load, no character portraits

Whenever i start and load, i don't see the character portraits.  Going into Inventory, then backing out, restores them.  This happens consistently, so any of my savegames will do (e.g., http://ennui.org/autosave_0.savegame ).

 

MacOS 10.12.6

Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

2.6 GHz Intel Core i7

Still happens in 1.0.2.
