Are chanters more "viable" in 2?

It seemed like chanters skills and abilities in PoE 1 took to long to scale up and become useful and most of the time battles were over or near over.

 

How are they now?

chanters (particularly beckoners) are bonker's right now, if you watch the latest patch q&a twitch stream, they even state that they will probably scale back how powerful they are.

Chanters had multiple builds that were quite good in the first game. They were one of the Solo Triple Crown classes.

 

In this game, they're even stronger. As was pointed out above, the Dev's are planning on nerfing them because of how strong Chanter or Chanter multiclass is.

They're much better now, they start off combat with enough verses to throw out an invocation at the beginning of a fight. Been having some fun with a Skald Fighter crit fishing. Her Revenge Swept Across the Land can do a ton of damage if you hit 2-3targets.
