All the ship aspects seem a bit rushed and unclear to me?

Where for example can i see my captain level and what is it good for anyway, or the crews level? Is ist just beneficial for scripted events?

 

What are the character traits of crew members doing, also potentially infulencing scripted events?

 

How can i get ridd of crew members i have in case i want to exchange them for others?

I can't decide if I like ships or not. Mostly having to micromanage food and other supplies is pretty annoying. Ship battles seem oddly scripted (though I do enjoy them) and variety of weapons etc seems rather shallow. A lot seems like a huge money sink. Wandering around is a bit tedious.

 

It is different, though, and entertaining enough. The scripted ship events are a fun distraction and for immersion.
