May 14, 20187 yr This is just a hopeless post stating that I wish there was a dog animal companion. It is strange that there are such weird options like Antelope and Stag while the the animal companion most popular in the real life is not represented. An opportunity to give a Ranger a more urban flavour is missed. I really wanted to roleplay something like a Houndmaster from Darkest Dungeon. Wolf is not the same. Pet items are not the same. May 14, 20187 yr I think I can speak up on this one, since I'm a ranger first and foremost. The choice of animal companions is always limited to "wild" animals. It's part of what makes a ranger special in games like PoE. Sure dogs are awesome, I have one in real life, but the "pet" slot fills that need. I'd much rather be super friends with a wolf like I was in PoE or a bear, like I am in Deadfire. Plus, seeing a "wild" animal injured or killed, as opposed to a domestic animal like a dog is much easier on your typical person playing a game like this.
May 14, 20187 yr well..I'm pro and con . I have a dog and cats . And I love both . But I find that dogs are overrated and overused . There are times where I wished I had something else , something new! give me a giant SPIDER as a pet or companion ! But I'm also glad , I got 'New ' choice in the druid/ranger . Cose way too many game go with the traditional : wolf , raven , stag...etc . There are much more animals outta there , and it would be nice to have something new ! :D I'll bet ye've got all sorts o' barmy questions!
