What is the difference between the Principi, Royal Deadfire Company and Vailian trading company?

 

There have been a few quests which mention all these extensively and I am getting a bit confused as to who is who...

 

I met Pallegina and she basically told me where to go when I asked her to join me, is that it, can I never get her in my party?

Principi = Pirates, ruled by the Council of Pirate Captains

 

Valian Trading Company = Traders from Valia, ruled by the Ducs Bels of the Valian Republics

 

Royal Deadfire Company = Traders from the kingdom of Rauatai, ruled by the rauatian Ranga Nui (King).

 

EDIT:- Keep playing, Pallegina is involved later on and you can indeed recruit her.
