Alright, in the heat of battle I had my Herald, in part a shieldbearer Paladin, throw up her Wall ability. 

It says, while Active you can't move. Well, after the fight was over and everybody had rested, she still stood there frozen, and refused to lead her party.

I vote for the can't move-requirement of this ability getting disabled while not in combat.

Was the ability still active for sure? Like if the icon shows up next to the party icon.

Yes. And as soon as I deactivate it off combat, I could come along for a peaceful walk.
