So I've finished my first mission and have earned extra cards. I can move theme between characters but still have too many.

For the life of me I can't work out how to ditch the extras.

 

iPhone version if it matters

You can't save them. You can swap them with you current cards in the decks, and discard the others. Going forward will produce a natural evolution of stronger cards for your characters.

Drag the extra cards to the buttom of the screen.

    3. Adjust your preference.
