The Rat Swarm says something to the effect of "If you didn't beat the check to defeat with at least 4 ...". You said it yourself - when using the Caltrops, there is NO check to defeat, and therefore you DIDN"T beat it by at least 4. You can use the 'Mark Solved' button beneath a post that answers your topic or confirms it's not a bug. The time that devs don't have to spend on the forum is a time they can spend on fixing the game.
June 28, 20169 yr Author If you evade, you don't beat the check to defeat by at least 4, either. Is the rat swarm defeated and shuffled back into the deck if it is evaded, or should the conditions of the evade (which might not be shuffled back into the deck, and normally count neither as defeated nor undefeated) be controlling?
June 28, 20169 yr Hey Decius, You have to defeat the Rat Swarm by form of combat. If you use an item to defeat the rats, the will still shuffle back into the deck. Hope that helps! Thanks! Obsidian Discord || Grounded Discord
