s1rrah Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Is there an easy way to identify spell types that will also do damage/affect my party members that might be involved in any given fight? I'm finding that some, like the sticky web one, seems to also hinder/harm my player characters. It's often hard to find a time to cast such spells when my players are not in the same area of effect. Any tips? Thanks, Joel
Elerond Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Spells that target only enemies say that their effect in foe target, Foe aoe, etc., spells that target only allies say friendly target, friendly aoe, etc. Spells that target both say AoE or Target, etc. AoE, Spells that target both have two indicators of area that they will effect (if you haven't turned such off from options or chosen expert mode), where red shows area that effect both and yellow/white shows area that only effects foes (this foe only area is determined by your character's intellect, and it isn't shown if your intellect is lower than 11).
rnarchlord Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Sometimes the spell description (right click on spell) states "enemy AoE" which means only enemies are targeted. If there is only an area of effect noted then you can check by clicking on the spell while paused in combat and look at the AoE indicator. If it is red with a light blue outer ring then anyone in the red area will be affected but only enemies are affected in the light blue area. A solid red circle or cone with no light blue means all are affected. You have to position the spell so that only enemies are hit. You can tell who is going to be hit by the shape of the indicator at their feet; it will change from a solid circle to a cross or X like circle. The pause feature is a boon when targeting spells.
s1rrah Posted April 25, 2015 Author Posted April 25, 2015 Both of these are fantastic replies and will change my spell caster game completely. Thanks a million. .joel
