When casting a spell through a doorway or passage (i.e. not out in the open), the spell often happens to bounce against walls that it doesn't actually hit.
Load the saved game; you'll find yourself in Lle a Rhemen in front of a doorway.
Select Aloth.
Cast the second level spell "Rolling Flame" in a straight line in front of you.
Observe that upon reaching the doorway, the spell bounces against the pillar even though it doesn't actually hit it (and it shouldn't, since a straight line in front of Aloth is actually clear).
