Is it advisable to finish this quest or keep the shipment for that guy at night  (that has a secret phrase)

I kept it for the guy at night and, as far as I can tell, there is no way to give the shipment to him and the only way to actually complete the quest is to return it to the blacksmith.

You can only return it to the smith.
