Mamoulian War Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) How will be handled the game updates for the owners of the DRM-Free CD? Will there be any possibility to update the game without needing it to register anywhere (something along the lines of standalone NWN1 or NWN2 updater), or you have to register the game on GoG or Steam to be able to receive updates? Thank you. Edited March 23, 2015 by Mamoulian War Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. Thank you. I haven't seen official word on this, but my assumption is since the DRM-free CD is only available to backers, then you'd get updates for it from the backer portal. Would seem logical to me, at least.
Luckmann Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I would assume that you would need to register with GOG to download the patches.
Ink Blot Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) I would assume that you would need to register with GOG to download the patches. The GOG patches wouldn't necessarily be compatible with the DRM-free disc. I still think these patches will be accessed through the backer portal. Edited March 23, 2015 by Ink Blot

Sorry if I don’t take the time to look for the said official statement, buried somewhere on the forum, you just have to trust me on this ----- The GOG patches wouldn't necessarily be compatible with the DRM-free disc.GOG patches are compatible with GOG installers only. More specifically each patch is compatible with *one specific version* of the GOG installer for your game. It would be odd if they supplied patches through the backer portal considering that they've had to manage a redundant system instead of relying on the pre-existing ones that already exists (Steam/GOG). I'd actually be surprised if they 'forced' people to sign up to a third party site to get patches, given that these same people are opting to get a DRM-free disc in order not to use a third party site/software.
