Prices, Tiers, Addons, distribution after release question

Hi all,

 

I know about Pillars since it started on KS and I was very excited. But KS was something new for me and I didn't want to pay for something so ahead. Then I followed for while and then completly lost trail about updates.

 

But since release date is getting close I renewed my interest in game and have some questions. Apologies if they were already answered somewhere else.

 

1. I see backer portal is up as promised but there are different tiers then on KS. Will they add more later? or other addons

2. Also I noticed that some things are not included like Almanach. I expected it to be included :/ Do they plan to change it ?

3. And will be Almanach regularly updated after release or not ?

4. Also prices are bit too high. I would like to have Collectors edition. But 140$ + Almanach + shipping is too much. But I might understand this about prices. So is this going to be changed in a future ?

 

5. Last question. If nothing will be changed about backer portal - How is it with distribution after release ?? Does Obsidian plan to sell game regular way through eshops and is it already decided what prices and editions will be available ?

 

Sorry if this is somehow confusing. I understand that they cannot lower prices before official release as it would be unfair to original backers.

I just can't decide because this is a lot of money and I already plan to spend money on many games. I would like to go with wit collectors but dont need access to beta and so on.

But I guess this is my problem.

Hello,

 

Currently we don't have any more plans to offer more Tiers or Addons.  If we do decide to expand on what we're offering, it'll most likely be more Addons instead of adding additional tiers.

 

The Almanac was included in some of our Kickstarter tiers.  Not every reward from the Kickstarter is offered in our Tiers, but the Almanac can be purchased as an addon.

 

We're looking into having an online store for our Pillars of Eternity addons but that's not set in stone.

Thank you for quick response. So there are not any plans that game will be distributed regular way through online sellers ?? Or backer portal will be still available when game is officially released ?

That's still being discussed.  The game will still be able to be bought when it releases, but we're not sure if it'll go through our Backer Portal.

Is the Kickstarter 'Digital Funpack' at $50 the same as the website 'Digital Download Plus' at $45? Does it not include the Almanac as mentioned above?

 

I ask as I was looking at adding some add-ons to my original order, but in order to do so I would need to change to the Digital Download Plus, in the process saving $5 but then losing the Almanac which would be needed to add on again for $15?

 

Is it possible to just 'purchase' add-ons separately to the original order?

One other question, I'm holding off on finalizing my "purchase" until I know what extra stretchgoals are available.  I'd like to add the expansion if more stretchgoals are available, but I won't if they aren't.  So, what should I do?

Stretchgoals are still being discussed.  Once a decision is made, we'll most likely announce it in either a Backer Update or an announcement on the forums.

I wouldn't want to change my order and lose what is currently selected there.. I will await updates on being able to add individual extras down the track =)
