Prosper Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 (edited) (NOTE I CLAIM TO NOT HAVE DONE ANYTHING MORE THAN WHAT YOU SEE IN THE VIDEO, I'M ADDING IDEA) The source code for the market itself is finished. I also leave it up to you to add the online option, due to the simplicity of that network code required. there are a number of ways you might integrate it into the game. maybe someone can create an official stock market level design. you could integrate the buy/sell/list/create commands as activators in the game. or you could built this all into one dialog window after you activate a single switch somewhere. there are multiple options. you can simulate who invests, make the npcs in the game themselves the only investors etc. Ok so why is stock market valuable? It works like this you invest money into a stock, it's price goes up or down (this is how well a stock does). so if npcs can invest and cash out (which they can), then wealth in a sense changes hands making the game more exciting. maybe you're a skeptic that all our games can be linked because some will go on crazy tangents destroying what their game contributes to the stock market economy. this is where some stability could be simulated by always having investors server side, not just those that exist in the worlds of each client. More of a run down . NPC Escort Service (guarding someone between point A and That can be a stock which goes up or down based on how the escort service itself does other than how many people invest in it. Mutants International These are a group that have a stock and a business where they give aid out to bums such as that always thirsty guy outside rivet city. Rivety Rivet City The vendors pool together and so how well they all do determines this stock. In reality people can acquire each other's businesses. So take the case of rivet city vendors, a bunch of raiders might take over their business. Maybe the previous vendors got mega rich so go into retirement. I will let your minds think of more. But I know these types of suggestions will vastly expand upon the game as a living, breathing existence. one last thing to point out. is technically you could have different games also invest in the same economy. for example people who play fallout 3 versus new vegas.
