Just wanted to throw this up here. I've been seeing a lot of discussion on the Forums about challenging tropes found in older RPGs (looking at the necromancer and vampire bit, monks) and also some disagreement with races (Orcs and Aumaua especially).

I think one thing I'd like the design team to always consider in this world is why. Why is something a certain way? If you're going to set us up with a trope or not, in either case why is a certain thing a certain way. The players don't always need to know (in game or not), but there should be a reason for why the dragon lives in the cave or the wizard lives on top of the tower alone.

If it's going to be a so-called trope. At least it should be discussed why it's that way in the PE world.

My blog is where I'm keeping a record of all of my suggestions and bug mentions.

I think they said that they wanted to go as much closer to Forgotten Realms as possible. It isn't a very good thing in my opinion, but here you go.

I'm quite certain they've said no such thing.

They only said that the map was made roughly to resemble their favorite region of Forgotten Realms. But the setting is definitely different, with multiracial cultures, Renaissance-level technology (including firearms) etc.

how people got Orcs from Amaua i'll never know...

Orcs typically always live in mountainous regions, Amaua are said to live on islands and coastal regions.

I like to think these developers already know what they're doing. :)

Sometimes I write stuff and really wish I could take it back. Guess I didn't think this thread through before posting. Of course, they as professionals, know what they're doing. :p I just kind of feel some sort of special bond to this project because I kind of feel like a "mini-shareholder" with the kickstarter. It's a weird feeling that I've never had with any other game before.

:) Sorry mate, I do agree with what you're saying. It's good when a setting is self-consistent, and everything makes sense at a certain level. Sometimes I wonder though whether fantasy gaming has rationalized the topic of magic a little too much. I mean, folklore has magic being mysterious and unpredictable. Instead, everything magical in a RPG is neatly packaged in a logical set of consistent rules with repeatable effects.
