This keeps on happening to me in New Vegas, Civ 5, company of heroes. You name it. You check game cache, one file needs to be replaced. So you replace that file. Go back to game. Game crashes. Check cache. 1 file again.

I mention it here because the pattern seems to indicate this is a bug in Steam, not - for example - New Vegas or Dungeon Seige. And I recommend that someone from Obz give them a thorough kicking asap.

I think it probably has something to do with changes to steam itself for that item trading feature they recently introduced.

I've had that from the start with New Vegas. I don't know what file it keeps re-downloading but I don't think it causes any crashes or anything.
