I'm not entirely sure what it is that makes one model twice the price of a comparable one in terms of resolution and response time. Very low power consumption, LED backlit, at 29 watt maximum, the lowest I have seen in any of the 27" i have browsed. 2 ms response time, which should be plenty fast. 1920 x 1080. NEC, or at a more consumer-friendly priced Dell IPS panel is the minimum I'd go for. HP do relatively affordable IPS panels too, but not in 27" as far as I know.
