Buying a flat screen for a friend, the specs look pretty confusing though. I'm not entirely sure what it is that makes one model twice the price of a comparable one in terms of resolution and response time.

I'm looking at one of the mid range sync masters. Very low power consumption, LED backlit, at 29 watt maximum, the lowest I have seen in any of the 27" i have browsed.

2 ms response time, which should be plenty fast. 1920 x 1080. The jump to 2560 x 1440 is quite an expensive one, so it will have to do.

If you were going for a high-level screen you wouldn't be picking a Samsung in the first place. :banghead: NEC, or at a more consumer-friendly priced Dell IPS panel is the minimum I'd go for. HP do relatively affordable IPS panels too, but not in 27" as far as I know.

I went with ASUS VE276Q 27". Seemed like a good compromise. For twice what I spent could have had a Dell which was actually pretty nice. A step up in resolution, better image quality, but for the budget this will do.
