Like mr i says, you can always range with your AW. I think you should probably be able to take the first specialization you unlock. Frankly, after my first run where I unlocked AW, I went the mage tower route first the other two times. From memory, AW and SS were the easiest to get, but SH wasn't hard either.

Yeah, over the past year I took both fighter and rogue PCs for a spin, didn't like either experiences - partly due to the stamina mechanic and partly due to the poor selection of ranged-capable NPCs - so I had resolved to go back to a mage if and when I finally got around to it.

I told myself I'd start up a new game (importing a cheap complete edition) if New Vegas turned out to be a bust. So now I guess I'll do it if DA2/TW2 turn out to be busts.

Oh, and just aside, the ridiculous mage hat graphics look even more ridiculous on an AW wearing non-robes. ;)

That's funny, Humanoid. Those silly assed mages. :cant's tongue in cheek smile icon: The big thing about AW is that you can really use just about anything except high dex stuff.

I had a pretty good Templar/Champion (and finally Spirit Warrior) build - I liked the advanced fighter aspect, where you had to manage your character, much like a mage.. Besides that he was quite amusing because he was radiantly translucent..
