Problems (pc setup?)

Hello I run this game on my PC but i had some problems (PC specs are at the bottom of the post)

 

The first problem: if i go to start-->games-->Alpha protocol, and I click the executable, it takes like 30 seconds before the game starts.... this is a long time I have never had any game that took so long. But this isn't a big issue, i just have to be patient.

 

But the real issue is that I can't play the game without some kind of lag, With a GTX260 and the new i7 processor it can't be that my hardware can't handle te game, even changing the video settings to some lower settings will not work

 

If I move the mouse the pc microfreezes and skips a lot of frames, in fast action situations you can't aim because the game is so laggy

 

I hope there is something to do about this, or some kind of patch I have to download.

 

I waited for so long for another obsidian game because I know they are great, but I must admit I am somewhat disapointed with the first hour of playtime. This way the game is not playable.

Hey,

 

Is it laggy all the time, or just some of the time? Does the lag seem to be with the game trying to load environments/etc, or dependent on when you do things or move the mouse? Problems with mouse stuttering seem to be widespread, though solutions are ad hoc at the moment.

 

Try setting these things in My Documents:

 

APInput.ini ->

bEnableMouseSmoothing=false

 

APEngine.ini ->

MinSmoothedFrameRate=20

MaxSmoothedFrameRate=30

 

(or variations of those numbers)

 

I assume you've tried the 'normal' go-to points of graphics driver updates, reinstalls, etc.

Indeed, i tried the normal go-to points, update graphics card, installed 3 times etc.

 

I tried the APinput.ini but not the APEngine.ini, I will try that today

 

I read about the widespread problems with mouse stuttering, but in my case it only seems te stutter when I turn more then 40 degrees or something, or a new area. Also some parts in the game has more stuttering than other parts.

 

That is also why I was worried that it was because of my pc setup, but i cannot believe it, 4ghz intel i9, overclocked gtx260, 6gig ddr3 ram.

 

I also tried everything on default clock but it doesn't make any difference

Have you tried messing with the NVIDIA setttings, if it's anything like the ATI control panel there will be something that doesn't use the application settings if so you might want to change those settings so it does use the Applications settings. However I don't know anything I'm just here to looking at the technical forums to see what I might be getting into when this game finally arrives.

I tried forced nvidia settings (like anti aliasing etc)

 

I don't know if it is right but when I play the game and I see a fence or something, it seems very blocky, maybe I can post some pics or vids, ill go try and play

It does react fine on my first Saoedie Arabia mission, I will play some more to see if it keeps stable, thanks so far
