Not really a horror game, certainly nowhere near CoC or the like.

I found Dead Space FAR scarier than Call of Cthulu. The sound is fantastic and its one of the few horror games where I actually had to run away desperately searching for ammo (on the harder difficulty).

I never ever ran out of ammo and the only scariness I remember came from all doors closing and monsters swarming you (this happened like a million times).

 

It might be scary at times, but certainly not in the SS2/CoC atmospheric way, more like Doom 3.

 

Also the story is as formulaic as they come, not to mention that you need a comic and an animated movie to get the complete complete story.

 

Once again the Yahtzee review pretty much nails it. I did kind of like the ending, though.
