Favorite Music Genre

I mostly listen to electronic music. Preferably downtempo/ambient (Orbital comes to mind), but I also used to listen to a lot of big beat (The Prodigy, Chem Bros, Fatboy Slim) in my teens and still haven't lost the taste for it.

 

My favorite genre is probably psychedelic ambient, or psybient: Shpongle and Younger Brother, both projects by Simon Posford, the Jimi Hendrix of electronic music. There's a new Shpongle album coming in November yay. Mushroom music ftw, although you don't even need hallucinogens to get high on these sounds.

 

Don't think of the typical psychedelica like Infected Mushroom or Juno Reactor. Those are for the stupid acid-tripping masses. Posford is a lot more sophisticated and subtle than that.

Actually, I'm definately going to be checking those out. It sounds quite awesome!

 

For the last few weeks I have been on a MAJOR Soul Coughing kick. I am so pissed I missed out on these guys when they were still around, but I feel that way about a lot of artists. It seems I alway come late to the party. They called themselves "Deep Slacker Jazz", so I guess right now that's my favourite genre. Haha! Haha, they're fun Ever tried any of the other "deep" things, like deep house for example? Not quite as fun but pretty good too, imo.

 

Pope's shpongle stuff is also good! Thanks for posting that, guys! Expanding my realm of trippy music...

 

(but the younger brother-link sounds more like a copy-paste-work of stuff from JM Jarre, Mogwai with added effects and singer)
