Dave Arneson has died of cancer, within a year of Gary Gygax. RIP Dave.

 

Arneson isn't as famous as Gygax, but he was the guy who added the primary role-playing elements to D&D, turning it from a fantasy-based wargame into something else completely.

 

He will be missed, but his influence on gaming has been profound.
