I just bought KotOR on PC and it lets me install etc, when i come to play the game, I get as far as creating a Character and then it has the opening movie.

Then the screen freezes black and the sound loops over and over, the only way to deal with it is a hard shut down...

Ive heard people mention a crack but where do you get it and what do you search for?

Im new to PC games so Ill pretty much need a step by step or something...

Disable the videos from the options panel at the main menu, and you'll be able to play the game fine...

sounds to me like problem isn't with the movie but with playing the game, possibly graphics card/drivers

No...because he can play the game but crashes on movies his current system can't handle the movies

I'm having the same problem as the guy who started this thread. Cept I use vista.

 

My graphics driver is up to date and meets minimal requirments.

 

I turned off the videos, sound and lowered the graphics settings to minimal.

 

Still doesn't work.

I have somewhat of the sme problem. I can create a character and see the movies up to when the Ebon Hawk is floating in the astroid field. After that i can still hear the sound but i can't do anything and my screen is all black. Running on XP

I fixed the problem, I just went to the lucasarts site and downloaded the two patches, that's the main thing it solves...
